Striking of alleged personal attack

[edit]

@Dlthewave: instead of edit-warring, shall we discuss whether it was warranted to strike User:Toomim's reply to User:NightHeron? Jweiss11 (talk) 04:42, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Toomin's comment concerns something that purportedly happened 18 days ago, on a different talk page, with no specific diffs or explanation of the behavior in question. This is an unsupported accusation that has no place in this deletion discussion. If folks are concerned about Nightheron's conduct, they should bring it up on Nightheron's talk page or at a community venue such as WP:ANI or WP:AE. –dlthewave 04:55, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, there should be no discussion. As per WP:TPO, the comments of other editors should NEVER be edited, period, regardless of whether they contain a personal attack or not (spoiler alert: there was absolutely no personal attack in Toomim's comment whatsoever). Please see WP:RPA. Your assertion that comments can "NEVER" be edited is contradicted by our No Personal Attacks policy. I'm certainly open to discussing whether or not this instance counts as a personal attack, but your attempt to shut down the discussion will not stand. –dlthewave 05:03, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dlthewave, Toomim was responding directly to Nightheron's assertion that some number of participants in the discussion weighed in because of off-wiki canvassing. While Toomin directly linked to the section in question related to his claim (the talk page for the very article we are discussing whether or not to delete), Nightheron issued a generalized and wholly unsubstantiated accusation at number of people who have voted to keep. How come you didn't similarly strike Nightheron's comment as a personal attack and issue a warning on his talk page? Jweiss11 (talk) 05:31, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sock concern tables, are disrupting indenting of posts.

[edit]

Those sock warning tables are messing up posts that come after them. GoodDay (talk) 17:27, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou for pointing that out. I have self reverted the warnings. It is unfortunate that a sock is contributing but better to leave that alone rather than mess up all the formatting. -- Sirfurboy (talk) 17:33, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the close...

[edit]

Noting here that I've requested a "team close" at WP:AN, given the length, contentiousness and complexity of the debate here. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk) 13:16, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This AfD included frequent concerns about fringe sources, which was also mentioned in the close. Wikipedians who participated in this AfD might therefore be interested in the related RfC that followed on from this AfD: wikipedia:Fringe_theories/Noticeboard#RfC_on_race_and_intelligence Cheers.--Literaturegeek | T@1k? 15:05, 11 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
