This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Crime. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion

Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:

1. Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Crime|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.

There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.

Removing a closed AfD discussion

Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.

Other types of discussions

You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Crime. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.

Fails WP:VICTIM. This seems like a totally un-necessary biography and a WP:CONTENTFORK of the Great Train Robbery. The subject was not individually notable, and his death was a part of the larger train robbery so having a separate article like Death of Jack Mills doesn't seem appropriate. A merge or redirect to Great Train Robbery would be an acceptable WP:ATD. 4meter4 (talk) 19:25, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Merge into Murder of Tupac Shakur. Textbook case of WP:BLP1E and a potential violation of WP:BLPCRIME. Most of the text in the article is about the murder and the various theories surrounding the possible perpetrator, not Davis. Davis hasn't been convicted or found guilty, and the coverage surrounding him is only in the context of the one event -- the murder of Tupac Shakur. Longhornsg (talk) 04:27, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

• Merge as suggested seems like the best way to proceed here. He isn't notable as a "criminal" (he hasn't been tried yet, only arrested), or otherwise, only notable in relation to the Tupac murder. He was arrested and is in jail, pending the trial. Unsure if he might even pass criminal notability if and when he should be found guilty either. Oaktree b (talk) 04:40, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

Fails NEVENT. All sources are from the week this happened, no follow up, failing WP:SUSTAINED. In addition, familicides are by far the most common kind of mass murder and tend to receive the least coverage, so the odds that this will receive any kind of retrospective coverage when coverage has ceased, especially since it's been two years with nothing, is slim to none. University of Texas at Austin stabbing

Fails WP:NEVENT. A non-fatal stabbing where a single non-notable person was injured, no deaths. The citations in the background section do not mention this incident as they predate it. There was a brief burst of coverage that it happened and the perpetrator was indicted without hate crime charges (covered only by local media) and there has been no coverage since, failing WP:SUSTAINED.

Additionally, there was a fatal mass stabbing at this same school in 2017 that is substantially closer to passing NEVENT that we do not have an article on (imo it still doesn't pass NEVENT but this is to make a point): the reason this article exists appears to be the Palestine connection.

Due to the circumstances it can probably be merged somewhere if anyone wants that but I have no ideas. PARAKANYAA (talk) 23:19, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

I 'WP:BOLDly redirected this to Panama Papers, however was reverted by an IP claiming that the redirect was odd given that no consensus had been obtained on either talk page. The subject has no independent notability outside of their role in the release of the panama papers. I'm not sure if this quite fits into WP:BLP1E given that the subject is anonymous and we don't know if they are still on this planet or not, however it certainly fits into the spirit of that policy given that the subject's notability is only understood insofar as they leaked the panama papers. Material about the subject is already covered in Panama Papers so there is no need for a merge and I am seeking community consensus that the redirect be restored. • Redirect Basically what TarnishedPath said, but Subject is not WP:NOTABILITY enough, and the stuff in this article is already stated in both the opening paragraphs and the Newsroom logistics of the Panama Papers article, so I believe this is a fair redirect. • Redirect but also consider this as a merger as the information is already in the target article. I think this meets not only WP:BLP1E, but also WP:NOTPUBLICFIGURE. This person seeks to be a low profile individual and remain anonymous so there is little prospect of any biographical information.
