In order to remain listed at Wikipedia:Requests for comment, at least two people need to show that they tried to resolve a dispute with this user and have failed. This must involve the same dispute with a single user, not different disputes or multiple users. The persons complaining must provide evidence of their efforts, and each of them must certify it by signing this page with ~~~~. If this does not happen within 48 hours of the creation of this dispute page (which was: 01:33, 4 May 2006 (UTC)), the page will be deleted. The current date and time is: 15:25, 21 July 2024 (UTC).

Users should only edit one summary or view, other than to endorse.

Statement of the dispute

[edit]

This is a summary written by users who dispute this user's conduct. Users signing other sections ("Response" or "Outside views") should not edit the "Statement of the dispute" section.

Description

[edit]
Hurricane Devon's behaviour is extremely problematic. He attacks and insults users he disagrees with, characterises their edits as vandalism, engages in revert wars, is a serial copyright violator and shows a complete unwillingness to listen when other editors try and point out problems. His behaviour has driven at least one editor away from Wikipedia. Worldtraveller 02:02, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is a summary written by users not directly involved with the dispute but who would like to add an outside view of the dispute. Users editing other sections ("Statement of the dispute" and "Response") should not edit the "Outside Views" section, except to endorse an outside view.

I agree that Hurricane Devon's behavior has been quite inappropriate. Unfortunately, I did not notice this until a couple days ago. Of course an indefinite block is justified under policy, but I believe I can work with him to improve his behavior, to serve as a mentor of sorts. Let me spend some time with him. I will block him if necessary while we're discussing matters. Perhaps I am over-optimistic, but I always prefer to redirect behavior rather than block. — Knowledge Seeker 04:43, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Incidentally, you may wish to see User:Hurricane Devon/Archive1, from when he was User:Acid, also going by "Battery Acid". He had a tumultuous start but I was eventually able to get through, at least for a time. I shall do my best. — Knowledge Seeker 09:31, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
