The result of the discussion was: changed to fair use without prejudice if anyone would like to nominate it at IFD or another fair use review process. --B (talk) 22:55, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- File:JovinPoliceSketch.jpg (delete | talk | history | logs).
- Open availablity does not mean it's not copyright, However I can see this might qualify as fair use, it being released by an official law enforcement body connected with the relevant case Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:31, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The entire reason a law enforcement agency releases a public sketch is because they want the public to see it and help solve a murder. I can't think of any better example of fair use.

The result of the discussion was: Keep. Most yearbooks didn't follow formalities at all in this time period, let alone renew them. I would be very surprised to find this was renewed. Anyone with contrary evidence may of course present it in a new discussion. Magog the Ogre (t • c) 23:44, 7 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- All items are generally copyright unless some other exemption applies.
Would a yearbook be considered Not-Renewed? Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:54, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Please see Wikipedia:Possibly_unfree_files/2012_September_5#File:Aldine_High_School_Facade_1961.jpg where the uploader said in a discussion about another photo from another yearbook in the same school district that the yearbook had no copyright notice. I'm betting $eleventy billion that if a 1961 yearbook from this school district lacked a copyright notice, a 1940 yearbook didn't have one either. --B (talk) 22:58, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- There is presumably no commercial value in a high school yearbook 28 years after it was published, so regardless of whether it has a copyright notice or not, it is very unlikely that the copyright was renewed. --Stefan2 (talk) 23:06, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- FYI, I sent an email to this user asking them to check for a copyright notice on the yearbooks in question. (I'm batting o'fer on my recent efforts to email uploaders in some of the deletion backlogs, though, so I wouldn't hold my breath for a reply.) --B (talk) 23:20, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Aloha and thanks for your concern this picture belongs to AMB publicity in other words, to myself. It was edited and now in circulation apparently after being deleted the first time in late 2012 I have released it to the public on the creative commons and would like to use it for the wiki if this is not acceptable please let me know and I will create a new photo. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mishka7 (talk • contribs) 09:22, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The EXIF does not say what camera model the photographer used. Image editing software sometimes remove the EXIF, so that is perfectly natura. Due to the other images elsewhere on the Internet, I think that you should send an e-mail to OTRS to prove that you are the copyright holder to the photo. See WP:IOWN for instructions. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:21, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- The source is {{bsr}}, so it isn't possible to tell whether the mugshot was taken by the federal government or by a state government. - This is poster art, and as such there is not usally FoP for 2D works.. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:20, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- What does FoP mean? I took this photo myself, but of course I didn't design the $100 bill or the poster. Yogi de (talk) 09:12, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Update: I now read up on Freedom of panorama and if I understand it correctly, this photo may indeed be unfree in some countries because I don't hold the copyright to the poster itself (I only took the photo of it). What do I need to do, delete the image from Wikipedia? It appears that it's currently unreferenced, anyway. Yogi de (talk) 09:17, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- FoP = freedom of panorama. In some countries, you are allowed to take photos of copyrighted buildings, statues, posters and other works without permission from the copyright holder, and that's what we call freedom of panorama. In other countries, you can't take photos of such works. For example, this section mentions a lawsuit where the US post was fined for depicting a national monument on a stamp without permission from the sculptor, and this newspaper article mentions a lawsuit where a Korean bank was fined for depicting a building without permission from the architect. The image in this nomination appears to have been taken in New Zeeland. The copyright law of New Zealand allows you to take photos of most copyrighted 3D works such as buildings and statues, but you can usually not take photos of 2D works, and posters are not OK. Thus, delete. --Stefan2 (talk) 11:09, 15 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
