Benjamin was a well known interpreter for Chief Buffalo and also his adopted son. He accompanied the Chief to Washington D.C. where they made a treaty with President Fillmore, countermanding the order for removal of Indians from the area of the Wisconsin Territory in 1852. Benjamin returned to Washington DC in the year 1862 with another delegation which met with the President Lincoln and the Indian commissioner. After two days, President Fillmore made his decision: The Ojibwe would not be forced to leave. See also[edit]Chief_Buffalo Lake Superior Chippewa Band External Link(s)[edit]

Introduction[edit]Class 37/7 37717 is a 37/7 varient of the British Rail Class 37. History[edit]37717 begain life as D6750 on the 24-08-62 when released from English Electric. It was first allocated to Darnall. TOPS renumbering in 1973 gave it the number 37050. It worked on the GEML for another 11 years until 1984 when it was tranferred to Immingham. As 37717[edit]37050 solidered on until 1989 when it was refurbished and ballasted to become an 37/7 'heavyweight'. It was renumbered to 37717 and allocated to the FMCH - Freight Metals Cardiff Class 37/7 Pool ,FMTY pool - Railfreight (Steel) Thornaby Locos in 1991 and then to the FDCI pool - Trainload Freight North - IM Class 37 in 1994. Names[edit]In 1992, 37717 recieved its first naming, being named Stainless Pioneer. This name was removed in 1996 when it was named Maltby Lilly Hall Junior School Rotherham Railsafe Trophy Winners 1996, and then to its current name Berwick Middle School, Railsafe Trophy Winners 1998. EWS Period[edit]In 1996, EWS took over the three privatised frieght companies and Rail Express Systems. This meant that 37717 became an EWS locomotive. It worked solidly for EWS for nearly 8 years until December 2003 when it was stored as a tatical reserve in the WNTR pool The Future[edit]37717 never worked for EWS again after it was stored, and in late 2007, was tendered for sale along with 27 other locomotives. [[West Coast Railway Company bought 37717 along with several other 37's and it is likely that it will be returned to service.
