If you feel citations are necessary you can look for them yourself. If you cannot find them, you can add a [citation needed] tag. Uncited material may be removed if citations have not been found after some time.1Z (talk) 01:33, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

The similarities between English 'baked beans' at a full English breakfast and 'pork and beans' in the U.S. and Canada is not "original research," but is common knowledge among the subset of people in the World with experience with both U.K. and North American food and food preparation. In fact, the Heinz company is one of the major sources of 'baked beans' in the U.K. This is not the kind of information at wiki that needs/deserves a citation to some scholarly journal. Logic, common sense, common knowledge, etc. are not always citable; wiki should follow the same conventions as written articles in this regards. Articles claiming specific knowledge gleaned from research should cite that research. However, much human knowledge is not found in books or primary literature, including the similarities and differences between U.K. baked beans and U.S. pork and beans vs. (Boston) baked beans. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.175.146.172 (talk) 20:59, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

January 2012 - Pork rinds

STFC home is called the DCS - this is known all over the country and is shown on www.stratfordtown.net. Your post is out of date. Likewise the stadium was built with a Football Foundation donation - again you have deleted this and it is important that they are recognised - it was a kind gift.

Sponsors for the club need to be recognised. Otherwise it will go bust like many others. I mentioned no company names. So its a bit off to remove that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dcseurope (talkcontribs) 18:11, 8 January 2012 (UTC)

The Stratford-upon-Avon page is very much out of date. The towns businesses should be represented as should sports clubs - you have done neither. Stratford Vision is creating a sustainable and vibrant future for the town and is completely voluntary. November 2011

Thanks for your input. This is a case of mistaken identity. The link you objected to removed from Animal loss does appear to be an inappropriate promotional material. However, I am not the author. If you check the diff you can see it was added on 23 October 2011 by an unauthenticated user on 77.49.218.58. As far as I can tell, this is a Greek IP address that has previously been reported in connection with internet spam and has a history of similar edits on wikipedia. --PaulVonPaul (talk) 11:55, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

Miami area

Hi! A few things about this edit

  • 1. The WikiProject Miami covers the entire metropolitan area. That means it covers all of the counties of Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach - It is defined as such by the federal government
  • 2. The portal is pegged to the WikiProject
  • 3. So that means everything in Palm Beach County gets the Miami portal

If you check the Talk page, this is actually rated as highly important to the Miami WikiProject Does that help? Thank you, WhisperToMe (talk) 04:19, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

The A7 criteria

Just to let you know (per your edit summaries at Tatung Institute Tea Culture and Department of Business Management, the A7 CSD criteria does have an exception for educational institutions: "No indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content). An article about a real person, individual animal(s), organization (for example, a band, club, or company, not including educational institutions), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant."--Mrmatiko (talk) 08:56, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for your comment. Just to be clear, Tatung Institute of Technology is the notable educational institution. Tatung Institute Tea Culture and Department of Business Management is a new, small department within the institution. One of the references says that the department has only 10 students. Of course there is no inherited notability. If a university is notable, that does not mean that each department (could be 100s per university) should get its own article. Anyway, I will put this up as a non-speedy delete. Logical Cowboy (talk) 16:39, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Categories for discussion--Adding a category?

Hi there. I see you are trying to combat some of the non-notable or not useful junk that User:TBrandley has been adding to Wiki. I was wondering whether it is possible to just add Category:Articles waiting for more information to be released to your Cfd for Category:Articles waiting for more information to be released from February 2012. I don't think this category is any more useful than the subcat you nominated. Or do I need to make a separate nom? I believe TBrandley plans to use these cats for his new template Template:Upcoming television series, which I can't see as useful, either, and I plan to Tfd. Thanks. --Logical Fuzz (talk) 01:13, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your comment (and I like your user name). I don't know how best to proceed, but feel free to pursue this issue further. Logical Cowboy (talk) 01:16, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

Regarding RfC

Hi there. Thanks for letting me know about the RfC for TBrandley. I am glad someone is addressing his behavior. I've never participated in RfC and I am still checking it out, but I will comment soon. In the meantime, would you add the following to the list of deleted/redirected:

Category:Articles waiting for more information to be released

Template:Infobox snack (TfD here. He has since recreated it as a redirect)

Category:Bob's Burgers templates

Bunheads‎

Baby Daddy (TV series)

100 Greatest Cartoons

TB Network

List of programs broadcast by Joytv 10

List of programs broadcast by Joytv 11

In addition, I think it might be helpful if you want to include the XfDs for some of the other blue links (which were redirected or recreated by TBrandley): It's up to you.

I noticed that TB has a alternative account User:Tate.B.Stockwell, although he has not made any edits on that account. TB should also agree not to use that account to create articles. Do you agree? JayJayTalk to me 03:52, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Please note that WP:CSD#A3 cannot be used on redirects. I speedied it under WP:CSD#R3 (a bit of a stretch) anyway, but you need to be more careful in selecting speedy codes. Possible copyvios

Hello there. I may have made a mistake here, and could use some opinions on the list of possible copyvios I pointed out here. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 04:18, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I think it's good for you to go through the official process and let the experts on copyvio figure this out. So I don't think it's a matter of a mistake on anyone's part. If you have a concern, document it and consult the experts. I'm no copyvio expert myself, but I will have a look and if I have any comments, I will let you know. Logical Cowboy (talk) 04:26, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
I filed at Wikipedia:Contributor copyright investigations yesterday. The copyvio crew are always up to their eyeballs with cases, so I normally try to handle things myself. I brought this to your attention because you are already familiar with this editor, and so may have something to offer. I am just looking for a few hands to help out. I already asked Icetea8 in the hope that he would be forthcoming and cooperative, but was disappointed to see that he has not addressed my concerns about the ten items I posted at his talk. Instead, he removed the post. I'm not trying to persecute him. I just seek to have this resolved so I can move on with more important things. Best, Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:02, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi, this WP edit [1] appears to be a very close paraphrase from this blog [2]. It does not seem to be verbatim. The WP edit is dated 2011 and the blog is dated 2008. So my best guess is that the WP edit was derived from the blog (unless there is a third source). The WP edit does not give credit to the blog or to any source for that matter. The blog does not assert copyright. In any event, the WP edit should have identified its source.
Please feel free to share my comments. Logical Cowboy (talk) 05:42, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Njsustain's incivility

I've tagged his/her talk page with a Level 3 warning (given the repeated nature of the infractions) for attacks against editors. I fear we're going to need to go to the civility ANI if the personal attacks, etc. don't stop soon. This is a very angry person who needs to step away. --Drmargi (talk) 01:00, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

Cowboy, is there a reason you keep addressing me as "NJStain"? This was the third time. I pointed out your error previously and said I was assuming it was a mistake, both times, but I am not willing to make that assumption any longer as you have repeated the "error" during your continued ad hominem arguments. Please refrain from the uncivil personal attacks. I'm sure you don't want people to call you a very angry person nor threaten you with ANI. Njsustain (talk) 20:14, 5 April 2012 (UTC)

"Not a forum"

Hello,

You seem to regularly add the tag WP:NOTAFORUM to pages and revert edits based on this rationale. However, looking at the last few times you have reverted edits based on this justification, it seems that there is nothing in the edits that the NOTAFORUM page seems to indicate is unacceptable. In all the ones I have seen: [3], [4] and [5] for starters, these users seem to be attempting to either discuss the content of the page on the talk page, which seems acceptable, or introduce new items for discussion on the talk page, which seems much more sensible than adding them to the article. Can I make the humble suggestion that you review the NOTAFORUM page before adding any more of these unwarranted warnings?

Many thanks,

Anthony J Pintglass (talk) 17:52, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

I disagree. See WP:Talk, e.g., "Talk pages are for improving the encyclopedia, not for expressing personal opinions on a subject or an editor." I also find it surprising that anyone would spend their time re-inserting such trivial comments on a Talk page. Finally, the NOTAFORUM tags are mainly in response to a serious problem with a banned user. See WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Rosanacurso. Logical Cowboy (talk) 18:01, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
As the subjects mostly seem to be food, which is clearly something that most people can have an input in, I'd imagine there were a variaty of views. Personally, I find it surprising that anyone would find their time vetting a variety of minor comments on talk pages looking for comments that might possibly involve the expression of an opinion rather than a 100% sole determination for "just the facts". I can't see how any of the comments that you reverted were even vaguely more off-topic than many other talk page remarks, or how adding NOTAFORUM tags had any effect on a serious problem with a banned user. But well done for spotting all the Sock Puppets. Anthony J Pintglass (talk) 18:10, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Removed edits

My fullest apologies, and noticing you're from the Modesto-Merced area: The Black Bears are not around, but there was an Atwater Angels team. http://www.mascotdb.com/team.php?id=126351 I couldn't find the Atwater Angels of the California League (one of the many Angels affiliates in its history), but some minor league baseball and other sports teams don't own web sites or they founded before the team considered having a web site. 71.102.21.238 (talk) 08:50, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

The Merced Black Bears came up with only a diner in the city. There is a Black Creek and a Bear Creek. And the 1941 [Bears] minor league baseball team. But no Black Bears, but they were supposed to play in the Horizon Air Summer Series while the Atwater Angels are of the Sierra Baseball League. I don't get it! And I will find the official web sites for the UC Merced (Bobcats) http://www.ucmercedbobcats.com/ (I swore they have, unless I confuse them with softball) and CSU Stanislaus (Warriors) http://www.warriorathletics.com/index.aspx?path=baseball&tab=baseball college baseball teams. 71.102.21.238 (talk) 08:53, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

And about Palm Springs - should I added the Palm Springs (Gay/LGBT) Pride web site to describe the city of Palm Springs' world renowned gay population? www.pspride.org The Arenas Road-Indian Canyon/Palm Canyon drive was a gay neighborhood since the early 1980s and the first "white party" was held in downtown or "the Village" locals call it 26 years ago (1985). I posted the image of the now demolished Bank of America building where the ceremonial first demolition of the Palm Springs revitalization project took place in February of this year. I would head back to the Desert Sun newspaper site www.mydesert.com if they have the article. 71.102.21.238 (talk) 09:02, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

One more: The edit I have here was removed (you can find bits and pieces of "American Dad" online, like on youtube) to confirm a Gay reference to Palm Springs. - Season 2, Episode 4 Lincoln Lover.

On American Dad, Stan Smith said to a speech in the Republican National Convention when representatives of the Gay Log Cabin Republicans were present: "Invite half of Palm Springs...oh, invite everyone in Palm Springs..." based on a belief based on a survey by a demographic think tank on about Half of the city's population are Gay or GLBT people. 71.102.21.238 (talk) 09:19, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Questions on accuracy of California League team list

Hello there, Logical Cowboy.

After years of some anonymous edits on the article, I want to take a look and share the link to the edits, then take time for me to find which is correct and not correct, most likely are in another league.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=California_League&diff=prev&oldid=489856016#Complete_team_list_.281941-42.2C_1946-present.29

Atwater Angels = Sierra Baseball League team, never found anything on a California League team under an Angels affiliation.

Bakersfield Blaze = IT IS a Cincinnati Reds affiliate. Source = http://www.milb.com/index.jsp?sid=t423

Channel Islands Oilers/Ventura County Oilers = Already stated under "Reno Silver Sox". http://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/Reno_Silver_Sox

Chico Cubs = Unknown. Most likely member of the Sacramento Rural League (1940-2010).

Fresno Cardinals = Team name listings already found in the article on team history. In 1955, they were the Cardinals and most of the team history were a Cardinals affiliate. http://www.milb.com/milb/history/top100.jsp?idx=79

Fresno Royals = I don't know, but like the Palm Springs Promise, two collegiate level teams wanted to join the California League in 1994, but the Royals face bankruptcy and the Promise had a burglary in their team office. Same applies with the Sacramento Suns or Cardinals.

The team affiliations are accurate, but they forgot the St. Louis Browns organization- Fresno Browns in the mid 1940s.

Long Beach Angels = Unknown. Pasadena Sox = Also unknown. I suppose are California Winter League teams.

Long Beach Cubs or Los Angeles Cubbies = Not so sure, again could be another CWL franchise in the late 40's.

The Modesto Bees name = The listing states Nuts will remain Nuts, but where you got the info. on the Mental Illness reference?

Ontario Orioles = I recall an article on this team on Wikipedia gotten deleted for some reason. Uncovered on the SABR and Baseball Reference. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=8e4516dd

Reno Padres: the link takes you to the article.

Riverside Reds and Bucks = Cannot find them.

San Bernardino Stars = I've consulted the baseball reference site. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?city=San%20Bernardino&state=CA&country=US The team itself http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=07a1af56 It had the NY Giants affiliation.

San Bernardino Padres are found here http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=20ec8d8e

Santa Barbara Rancheros: they do (or did) exist. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=07cc2552

and the Yuma Yankees, like the Las Vegas Expos. They have to been an Arizona Instructional League team. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/league.cgi?code=AZIL&class=WRk The AIL started in 1960 ended in 1978, yet the stats continued until 1991.

I never found links to Merced Miners or Stingers teams, other than the Arizona Winter League and North American League web sites shown they are not (or no longer) in existence, and the "Western Canada Miners" are in Yuma, and Stingers are in Somerton, Arizona instead. OffTrackBetting.com Edit

Hi, Just tried re-adding a link that was in this section for a number of years and what I thought to be an important link for the subject matter. I see that it had been omitted with the reason of do not add links "that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product."

Although the website does offer a product, it also is a perfect representation of what Off-Track Betting is evolving into and that the .com was a valuable place for curious minds to find out more information. Brick and mortar locations are shutting down and OTB's presence is growing rapidly online.

Also, in addition to their product, there is also a great deal of content dealing with current horse racing industry events and news. I can find many external links on wikipedia that link to other businesses that sell products, iTunes or Sony for example.

I am interested in your opinion on this. I have never used the "talk" section before, so unsure if this is standard procedure, but would be great to know the reasons you think it should not be listed as representation for Off-Track Betting. 17 May 2012 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.160.209.151 (talk) 05:25, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Young Adult (film) edit reverted

Hello, I just got a message from you regarding an edit for the above mentioned film, and how it was tied to my IP address. I, however, only make edits whilst logged in, and have never heard of that film. Also, this is the IP address for my mobile phone. What I'm getting at is that I believe this message was intended for somebody else, and am concerned that this person will not receive the message now that I've read it. Just thought I'd clear this up. Cheers. ericxpenner (talk) 13:50, 18 May 2012 (UTC)

Endtown

If you had read my comment you would have seen that I made the edits that I did in order to protest the possible deletion of the Endtown entry. This was according to one set of rules I found which stated this was the proper thing to do. I would gladly join discussion of why this entry should not be deleted if I could only find such a place! Every link only goes to more rules-many of which are contradictory.

As for being a sock puppet, yes I did create a new account but only because my original account (JanBic) which was over five years old has mysteriously disappeared! I am not a frequent editor. I have made a few edits on pages concerning 18th century sailing, Boy Scouts, and the town where I grew up. But, I was surprised to find my account gone. What is going on here with you guys? This is not a place for playing games.

Once more, if an article is proposed for deletion, please put a direct link to the discussion with the notice. Everyone needs to be able to contribute.

Thank you. Jlbickly (JanBic) Jlbickley (talk) 03:03, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello, thanks for your message, but for the most part, I don't understand. I didn't say anything about sockpuppets. I don't know what happened to your old account. You might try WP:Help_desk.
Where is the rule that says you can delete AfD notices? This is what the notice itself says: "this notice must not be removed, until the discussion is closed." Seems pretty clear. If you want to comment on the deletion of Endtown, follow this link. WP:Articles_for_deletion/Endtown. Logical Cowboy (talk) 03:26, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Step 2 at this site says: "2. If any person (even the author him/herself) objects to the deletion (usually by removing the {{proposed deletion}} tag - see full instructions below), the proposal is aborted and may not be re-proposed." When I followed the instructions listed, the new banner appeared the next day. Jlbickley (talk) 04:32, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Oh, okay. First of all, I had almost nothing to do with any of this, I did not propose anything for deletion or post any banners. Anyway, there is more than one way to delete an article. You are allowed to delete the PROD banner but you are not allowed to delete the AfD banner. I restored the AfD banner, which you deleted, not the PROD banner. This link shows your deletion of the AfD banner. [6] You will just have to read the policies if you want to learn about this: WP:Deletion policy. Logical Cowboy (talk) 04:47, 23 May 2012 (UTC)

Alan Alda

You recently reversed my change to the Alan Alda page, specifically the "Awards and Nominations" section. I realize that I hadn't followed the guidelines for changing, so I respect your reversal; however, check the facts. Alan Alda does not have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I believe he was nominated, which I was going to add to the page as soon as I had found a source. (The source on the page now (#19) is a dead end - it leads to the Hollywood Walk of Fame database, but has no information regarding Alan Alda...or Alphonso D'Abruzzo, for that matter.) I had put something on the talk page back in March from a different IP address, but no one ever responded. Anyway, I'm not experienced in editing articles, so any help in this matter would be appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.41.86.78 (talk) 19:58, 25 May 2012 (UTC)
