I created the Old Main (Staunton, Virginia) page as a redirect to Stuart Hall School, because that's what it is. Only after creating the link did I realize that I don't know how to appropriately add sources for a redirect. http://www.stuarthallschool.org/history-school shows, in "Fun Facts: Our History", the nickname "Old Main", as do some other sources, such as http://www.stuarthallschool.org/directions-campus, as well as http://www.dhr.virginia.gov/registers/Cities/Staunton/OldMain_StuartHall_photo.htm, from the Virginia state Government. I could find many more sources, since that's what "Old Main" is, but I made the page without thinking that someone might want to know why I did that. It only occurred to me as an afterthought, since it's common knowledge in the area, and also because I'm a new contributor and inexperienced. This was my first new page, and I've made a mess of it. Can someone tell me how to bring that up to standard?

I should add that I added the link because it's referenced as "Old Main" in National Register of Historic Places listings in Staunton, Virginia, and had a red link, as such.

Redirects themselves don't require sources, but the target article should explain the issue. In this case the target article doesn't even mention "Old Main", and someone following that redirect will not be able to tell why they arrived at that target. So you should add something about the nickname (with sources) to the target article. Huon (talk) 01:22, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
