2007 baseball seasons

I'm not sure why you're against a prose style of writing in the 2007 articles. I'm not giving a summary of every game, just of the entire season. How else would you summarize the season and have it achieve good article status? This is entirely my goal and I do not see how it can achieve this without much writing in it at all. I was planning on developing a full-sized article. Wait for the season to end? I will trim where fit so the article is the proper length.

And also, you can make the lists sortable; I saw someone asked what to sort it by. Sort it by what you want!

As per the 2007 baseball season: The reason that I changed (or added) to them was that many teams changed or added radio and TV stations as well as some new owners. I used the March 28 issue of USA TODAY Sports Weekly for the TV changes as well as some of the team history articles for the owners. I do not know about any other radio stations that changed their flagships, though there may be a few of them in the individual history pages. MLB game logs

I saw your note in the edit summary regarding the (11) that I posted next to the score of a game to signify 11 innings. You say that "We aren't including extra innings. OT doesn't have the same significance it does in other sports, like hockey, where OT determines how many pts a team gets. not in baseball however". I have a question here: Who is the "we" involved in this? I see that the WikiProject removed the OT column, but I don't see anything that says to not add the innings to the score column. Given that this is a wiki, are not all things subject to edit, as long as we do no harm? In theory, if I am (or a small group of people are) willing to do this and keep it updated and it doesn't damage the table or negatively impact the readability, why not? On the flip side of the coin, do you see anything that says to add the extra innings ni the score column? The reason why I don't feel that the extra innings are necessary is because the amount of innings it takes to play the game doesn't have any effect on anything. In hockey, it is vital to include this because an OT or SO game still gives a standings point to the team which loses. This is not the case in baseball. Plus, the column is headed "score", which does not include how many innings it takes to play the game. If you would like to discussion regarding this topic, go ahead. But I don't feel that it is crucial enough to include these numbers in the tables. Ksy92003 23:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

How to handle players not qualified for postseason awards

There are some days when a certain player would be qualified for postseason awards, but then lose eligibility the next day. How would one handle these players (i.e. relief pitchers)? Your answer works with me, but what I really want to know is if for instance player X is benched due to injury and misses 2 weeks, and no longer has 3 plate appearances per game. Game Logs, me

1. I prefer not to make an account because I hate logging in every time I open a new window. It f***ing pisses me off. It's ten times easier not to log in, and anyway, why does it matter?

2. Why crunch the records into the form 4-1 when there's plenty of space in the record column to spread it out with some nice spaces? It just looks stupid to me. But whatever. If you want, continue doing that on the Angels game log, and I'll continue doing it my way on the other 29.

2040s

Hi, you left me a message regarding the fact that you had prodded this article. I'm not sure why you notified me of this, I did make a minor edit to this article but I wasn't the creator of it or a major contributor.

However, as it turns out, I actually am interested in this. I see that you prodded 2030s and 2020s as well. But note that we also have 2050s, 2060s, and so on, as well as articles for individual years, such as 2063. I'd just as soon have them all deleted, myself, as they all violate WP:NOT#CRYSTALBALL, and there is nothing worth saying in any of them. It won't make any sense to delete some of them and not all of them, and whoever notices that we have some decades or years but not others will recreate them, so either they're all going to stay, or they're all going to get deleted.

I find it to be highly doubtful that you'll be able to get away with deleting them all via Prod, probably it will require some sort of AfD debate of the entire mass of them, which will be controversial and attract large amounts of arguement on both sides. --Xyzzyplugh 16:29, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Fine, it doesn't matter that much. I just think it looks better spaced out. That's a perfectly legitimate reason. I never said I own the articles, so I don't know where you got that from. And honestly, I wasn't being at all combative in my previous comment and you were in yours. If you want to stoop to such argumentative tactics, then I won't argue with you over something that I just don't care that much about. Have fun reverting trivial edits for the rest of your life.

As for making an account, I don't really feel welcome in your little circle, and I'm happy doing this the way I have been for months.

Numbering of games in game logs

I know this is going to become a question sooner or later, so let me ask it now. When games are postponed for whatever reason, and are made up later, how does it affect the numbering in the game log? I know this is going become an issue in the game logs for Seattle and Cleveland, because of he amount of games they have had postponed to snow in the past couple days. Table Sort

I believe that many of the editors had already implemented the feature. As seen above User:aviper2k7 has suggested the feature a week ago. There seem to be a unspoken general consensus regarding the feature. This edit was a relatively minor change which was made to standardize the other pages. I didn't discuss this page because the feature does not diminish any aspect of the page, it only adds to it. In the future I'll made sure I mention it in the talk page first. It is the height of pointlessness to have an article about the 2007 St. Louis Cardinals season with no commentary on the actual season. 2007 Tampa Bay Devil Rays Season: Batters

To avoid a giant list of revisions on the history of edits, I figured I'd just talk to you here.

What does it matter that Jonny, Josh, Carlos, and Brendan don't qualify for the batting title? They're players on the team that have official at-bats for the team, and that would make them eligible to have places in the article. • This may seem long-winded, but bear with me My basis of adding the extra comments/material (which I also added to Miller Park) is to distinguish this event, which is prompting a wholesale official look at MLB schedule-making with respect to cold-weather non-dome teams, from others. The intensity and longevity of the snow event was the problem, not just the snow itself. The addition would explain to readers why this particular event was such a catalyst to what has come of it, since most people familiar with U.S. geography probably know that it snows a lot and heavily at times in Cleveland, even outside winter, and might wonder why all what's happening is happening now but didn't happen in the past in similar weather situations. Lake-effect is unpredictable sometimes, even by meteorologists, and in fact the latter part of the cancelled opener had snow which wasn't predicted to fall then, especially in an area which usually doesn't get much, causing confusion within the clubs and the grounds crew and leading to what we have now with MLB-wide discussions. It's also to include a reliable, third-party source (the NWS). It's not absolutely necessary, but I don't see how it detracts from the article, either. I understand why you might object to weather reports/conditions being referenced for any game where they are not condusive to ideal field conditions, because it would make the article too unwieldy and unfocused, but in this case it seems that the precise conditions created what's come of all this, distinguishing it from just a run-of-the-mill snowstorm (which is what "heavy snow" with no qualifiers implies to me), which probably wouldn't have mattered much to anyone except those involved with the Indians and Mariners. I just edited Winter storms of 2006–07; since those lake-effect bursts were notorious, it seems that they should be mentioned on that page because they affected the MLB organization (not just the Indians), just as the type of snow should be mentioned in the context of sports. I'll pipe-link "heavy snow" to that article, so that won't change the wording of the '07 Indians article at all (I already did the equivalent to Miller Park). If this is rejected, I'll just leave it alone then. Just remember what "Wikipedia:List of policies" says at the link to Wikipedia:Ownership of articles: "You agreed to allow others to modify your work. So let them." That's useful info and everyone else on the general discussion page that's commented has agreed. The articles in which you have been removing commentary about individual games for no good reason, including not only the article I was contributing to, but the Milwaukee Brewers summary that aviper2k added to (and which he mentioned having "a similar problem" as mine with you on this page), and the Cleveland Indians page where you removed the mention of "lake effect" snow. All similar patterns where you seem to have this urge to delete any reference to a specific game, even if that specific game is clearly noteworthy, as Opening Day games are. Johan Santana Image

Please don't take off the Johan Santana image I took of him speaking on Venezuelan radio. I disagree with you that "the image doesn't help". It's been on Wikipedia for nearly two years, and I don't see one on the web anywhere that's like it. I spend a lot of time and money going to these games to take photographs so that Wikipedia will have some truly free baseball images, and not resort to fair use. Please settle disputes in the talk page instead of edit summaries. On this page: 2007 Milwaukee Brewers season, you deleted an entire section without a reason. Also, avoid instruction creep. These articles don't have to be exactly the same. The section I removed wasn't necessary. First, it isn't at all important to know that they are giving away bobbleheads or that they hosted the showing of a movie. Second, the 50th anniversary of the Milwaukee Braves world series win belongs in the Atlanta Braves article, as it is their team. Still, even if it is sourced, the information about the bobbleheads isn't necessary. I guess the part about the Milwaukee Braves is, but not the bobbleheads. I made one more edit keeping all of the same information in except for the part about the bobbleheads, as it isn't necessary, despite being on a website. This article is about the season, which doesn't really involve the fact that they're giving away bobbleheads to every friday game. Earlier this season, on April 3, the Angels had a Tim Salmon bobblehead give-away. Do you think that needs to be in the Angels article?
