User talk:KMC~enwiki
Welcome to Wikipedia!
[edit]I hope you will learn more about who writes Wikipedia articles (anyone can do it!), consider creating a username, and then get involved in the Wikipedia community discussions. Here are some resources to help you get started:
- Wikipedia:Tutorial
- Wikipedia:Guide to layout
- Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines
- Wikipedia:How to write a great article
- Wikipedia:Your first article
- Help:Starting a new page
I have only been here a few months myself, and I have found the Signpost and the Village Pump to be particularly useful, as well as the Welcome area. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page.
Once you have created a username, please be sure to sign your posts on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you.
I especially encourage you to read Wikipedia:Autobiography. If you want to copy what you have written about yourself to your user page, you can preserve a copy there. However, your autobiography page is likely to be deleted shortly. I hope you will contribute to the project on other, more encyclopedic, topics.
If you have questions, my talk page is here.Mamawrites & listens 16:06, 2 November 2005 (UTC)
welcome
[edit]Since someone else already left you the "official" welcome I'll skip that part, but I do want to welcome you to wikipedia. I hope I haven't discouraged you in any way by flagging your first article, and if I offended you in any way then I truly apologize. First let me just explain that "vanity" page is defined by wikipedia and it doesn't imply that you're exhibiting vanity.
Also, Wikipedia is not the place for every person to make a page about themselves. It's an open-source user-edited encyclopedia, and due to its nature covers a lot of things that wouldn't warrant an entry in a normal encyclopedia, but it still tries to maintain a standard whereby articles should be about subjects that are notable and encyclopedic in nature. (see also Wikipedia:Importance).
Please don't let one negative incident deter you from a tremendously useful resource and opportunity. If you want to get the hang of how things work, click on the "random link" tag on the left (or search for something you're more interested in), and just start reading.
Wikipedia does have the ability for each user to have their own user page (you're currently looking at your talk page). Feel free to put whatever you want on your user page.
Good luck! --Bachrach44 04:12, 3 November 2005 (UTC)
Image:IMG_0382_1.JPG listed for deletion
[edit]An image or media file that you uploaded or altered, Image:IMG_0382_1.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called KMC. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name KMC~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
