Hello, I dream of horses! Welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions to this free encyclopedia. If you decide that you need help, check out Getting Help below, ask me on my talk page, or place helpme on your talk page and ask your question there. Please remember to sign your name on talk pages by clicking or using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. Finally, please do your best to always fill in the edit summary field. Below are some useful links to facilitate your involvement. Happy editing! Closedmouth (talk) 14:06, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
I don't mind at all about the userbox - that's how I got most of mine. :] And please, sort away! We need all the help we can get. If you need advice, post to the project talk page; there are plenty of folks who can help you. Cheers, Pegship (talk) 15:53, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
Would you help me clean up and correctly format ...
the page on Mark Bell (journalist)? I'm creating a new page for a regionally famous person (who I look up to) for an MTSU School of Journalism project. I am fairly new to editing on Wikipedia.
If you cannot. Could you please point me in the right direction of someone who can?
You marked my article for cleanup and I would just like some simple common sense suggestions on how I can do that.
I didn't tag your article for clean up, though I am flattered you would ask me to help you. Somebody who named himself Binary TSO did. Here is his talk page.
One way you can improve the article is by properly formatting the inline citations.
Hi, I saw you added PROD warning to Wuhwuzdat's talk page, I think you may have warned the wrong user. If you could take a look at it? Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 14:20, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
I added that to inform him that a article that he either proposed for deletion or stubbed was being proposed for deletion, again so he can look at it. Was I right in doing that? --I dream of horses (talk) 15:18, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Well the template that you used is designed to warn the creator of the page about it's deletion, if you were wanting input from an editor who had previously nominated the page for deletion, you'd be better off with a "real" message. Wuhwuzdat may appreciate you removing the message (which is almost a warning), although I can't speak for him. Don't worry though, you didn't do anything wrong, we're all learning :) - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:23, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
You're right. When I look at it now, I can see where it would be for the creator of the article.
I actually put the warning on three pages---the creator, wuhwuzdat, and one other person (I forget who). Out of good faith curiosity, why are you specifically talking about wuhwuzdat and not the other person who got the warning? --I dream of horses (talk) 15:30, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Don't worry, it's not favouritism ;), just happened to have Wuhwuzdat's talk page on my watchlist from a time I left a message on his page a while back. Didn't even check the other user's talk page (contact User:TexasAndroid if you'd like to know who that was BTW). - Kingpin13 (talk) 15:35, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Hello, I dream of horses. You have new messages at Wuhwuzdat's talk page. You can remove this notice at any time by removing the Talkback or Tb template.
Hi, think you were a bit quick off the mark with removing a redlinked category with this edit. You may not have noticed that the category had at least one member as well as the article from which you removed it. It's actually perfectly reasonable to add redlink categories to articles when they're categories likely to be needed, and (as it happens) I was on the point of creating it. Happy editing! cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:50, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
No harm done. The tricky bit is guessing whether the editor has deliberately included the redlink, or made a typo, or genuinely doesn't know what they're doing... Perhaps another time I'll create the category first, and then upload the article :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 17:36, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
There is a tab on the top of the article that says "move". Just follow the instructions. You might have to be here longer to get that tab, though, because wikipedians have abused it in the past. --I dream of horses (talk) 16:55, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Relax!
Relax I dream of horses! It was a mistake! No need for an immediate maximum level warning. I already apologised. Cheers. The Ogre (talk) 17:24, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
No worries! I did get max level warnings, but from vandals and sockpuppets. I just make a policy never to delete anything in my talk page, except for obvious vandalism. See you around! The Ogre (talk) 17:28, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Huggle
Whenever I try to run Huggle on my mac (admittedly, I haven't done so in a few days) I get "install mono in Windows version. No protocol specified." or something darn close to it. Apparently, internet explorer has been installed on my computer. I tried getting help here, and have also tried to recruit X! into the conversation to no avail. Any help? --I dream of horses (talk) 21:12, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
It's Wikipedia related because Huggle is a Wikipedia only, anti-vandalism tool. I don't know the answer though, just answering the question above. If no one comes by by with an answer, you could try asking at the help desk, a dedicated forum where many more people will see your question.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:33, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
Hello I dream of horses, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Cameron Nicholson - a page you tagged - because: Criterion A7 does not apply: the article makes a credible assertion of notability, sufficient to pass A7. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any queries, please let me know. Ale_Jrbtalk16:31, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
If you don't mind me asking, what was the assertion for notability? Understandably, the article is very hard to read and I don't know a lot about the French army.--I dream of horses (talk) 17:13, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Hey there. The article asserts that he 'was ADC General to the Queen', 'served in the 1st World War and was awarded MC and Bar in 1918', 'served in the Second World War and was awarded DSO and Bar in 1940', 'was Colonel Commandant of the Royal Horse Artillery from 1956 to 1960', 'was Brigadier General Staff 1st Army in 1943' and several other points. Whether these are true, or sufficient to pass our military notability guidelines, is irrelevant. They are assertions of why he was notable. Feel free to PROD the article, or take it to AFD. Cheers, Ale_Jrbtalk20:25, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
My bad. I think I'll pass on nominating it for any kind of deletion, since I don't know anything about the military. I'll go read up on the notability standards. Thanks for going out of your way to do that--that took a bit of time! --I dream of horses (talk) 15:10, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Luis Monge, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
Non-notable person.
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the dated prod notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Uhhhhh ... are you serious ... or are you joking? I barely even hit the "return" key, as I started to type/edit the article. Not even 3 seconds later, I got a message that you propose to delete it? Is this for real or a joke? Let me know at my Talk Page. Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 02:33, 7 June 2009 (UTC))
How can you possibly be serious? I typed in literally one sentence ... at 22:29 Time ... and you proposed to delete it ... at 22:30 Time? How can I take that seriously? Please explain at my Talk Page. I don't understand what just happened. How did you conclude --- in 3 seconds --- that he is not notable? Thanks. (Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 02:36, 7 June 2009 (UTC))
Joseph, you can usually avoid situations like this if you write the article in its entirety before you post it to the article space, otherwise people can get the wrong end of the stick and your article can be deleted before you get a chance to expand it. --Closedmouth (talk) 13:04, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

I am not the person to be saying these things (I'm very new), but I feel there are two things that have been missed on this page. The first is that the page also has a possible neutral point of view violation (Operating as a cooperative since its inception in 1971, New Day Films is democratically run by our more than 100 filmmaker members.), and the second is that it appears to be under construction (3 edits by the creator in an under 1 hour span). The page has also only been around for a few hours. Please take a look at this. I think that, as it is, it should be deleted, but if it is under construction, there should be some time for expansion, et cetera. Poker5463 (talk) 19:00, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
A: The whole point of having a procedural deletion is to give everybody five days to object. One nifty side effect is that you have five days to edit the article. The fact that it's under construction wouldn't really bother me much.

Hello I dream of horses, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I have deleted a page you tagged (Ass nugits) under a criterion different from the one your provided, which was inappropriate or incorrect. CSD criteria are narrow and specific to protect the encyclopedia, and the process is more effective if the correct deletion rationale is supplied. Consider reviewing the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. Thanks again! Ale_Jrbtalk17:59, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I was having trouble deciding "Is this vandalism or is this person unaware that we can see this immediately?" I decide to assume the latter. --I dream of horses (talk) 18:01, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Hmm... I have a line at which I stop believing people are acting by accident or in good faith: this firmly crossed it. Either way, no harm done. :) Ale_Jrbtalk18:05, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, it WAS his first article, and generally my new page patrol AGF/ABF line for first time article creators is starting to inch closer to "New attack pages about presumably alive people"...but yeah, no harm done in our actions. The horse is dead. --I dream of horses (talk) 18:08, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Hello. If you're planning on being consistently active on Wikipedia, and looking to learn more about this place (and how it internally functions), I'll be happy to adopt you. I work informally by dropping messages on things I notice in your editing, and short tips on how you can improve. Any questions you have you can place on my talk page. blurredpeace☮08:27, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
You know, I think I'd do best with an informal, laid-back style. One thing I need to work on is deletion criteria (when is PROD/AfD called for, when is speedy called for, and when does the article just need to be worked on?). If you came before MiszaBot archived my talk page, you would've known that I lost my passwords, and that's why I'm so "new", so I kind of, sort of know what I'm doing. --I dream of horses (talk) 23:31, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Sounds good; I'll take into account that you're more experienced than the regular new user. If you'd like to learn more about when AfD, PROD, or SD should be used, take a look at the Wikipedia deletion, proposed deletion, and speedy deletion policies. For the most part, those should explain where exactly each tag calls for. Do you use Twinkle, or have you requested rollback yet (if you're a vandalism fighter)? Happy to welcome you aboard. blurredpeace☮23:43, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, well, we'll have to do away with all that pesky knowledge and reteach. ;) Nah, you're not too experienced (not to say that you lack experience but that everyone can get better at what they already do). Like I said, we'll just being doing this stuff informally. I'll make comments on something I see in your contributions and we go back and forth with questions. Maybe I'll throw you a random policy and guideline test every now and then. It should be fun. blurredpeace☮23:54, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
That little stub of an article just attracted my interest, being based in my home town, and a little research fleshed it out nicely. Glad you felt I was justified in de-prodding it! PamD (talk) 22:07, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

I changed some of the userboxes that you're transcluding on your userpage to show that you're female. I did this by cutting out the words 'he' and 'his' and adding and similar things in their place. BASEPAGENAME is a variable that is filled in with your username by the software, and GENDER is the gender you signed up with at Special:Preferences. Thus the userboxes should now return the correct gender for everybody who uses them. As for your main userpage, I can't really do much to help design it. Wikipedia really isnt that great for making pretty userpages. -- SoapTalk/Contributions02:58, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for doing that! I'm sure that took a lot of work!
My name is Robert Schroeder and I was reading the article about Traffic Enforcement Cameras. In the article, there was a reference to a group of activists called Camera Fraud. As I live in Phoenix, I am very close to the issue of Photo Enforcement and Camera Fraud's efforts. I attempted to add a link to Camera Fraud's website under the 'Against Photo Traffic Enforcement' set of links. I thought it wouldn't be a conflict of interest at the group was already mentioned in the article. Unfortunately, the link has been rejected twice, perhaps because of its affiliation with WordPress. Are you able to shed any light on this problem? I'd be very thankful if you could.
I can respond here. The first time it was reverted automatically by a bot that detects blacklisted links. The second time was by as the bot for some reason missed the reversion or was acting too slow. I reverted the second time to honor that blacklist. That's my take on it. If I'm wrong, and the URL is not to be considered spam, then feel free to revert my removal and request that the URL in question be removed from the spam blacklist. MuZemike19:58, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
I would also like to add that providing an edit summmary and putting any links in the external links section will also help.
Thank you. It seems like every time I get a barnstar, it's one I've never gotten before. Now I have this one. (It's also sort of funny when you contrast it with this message, which I got earlier that same day). Daniel Case (talk) 04:53, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

I think a new article with some rational content deserves more than a minute before a speedy tag is placed. Just my opinion of course but the process still applies after an hour or a day! I respect the work done patrolling new pages and have done a substantial amount myself. Patrolling from the end makes a great deal of sense. Cheers! --Stormbay (talk) 23:02, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you After looking at my speedy deletion warning on your talk page, I suspect that there's been much more of my speedies are rejected than I originally thought. Thank you for the opportunity to realize such, and thank you for the criticism. --I dream of horses (talk) 23:29, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
Sorry for butting in here, but I cleaned up the article, looked at it again, and decided to restore the speedy deletion tag. Since yesterday nothing new was added to the article except for a MySpace link, and the claim to have released a record in itself does not, in my opinion, establish any kind of notability--nor does the claim that they played for many groupies and fans. I dream, your speedy here wasn't rejected, it was deleted, and I think there's a significant difference. An administrator can decide very quickly on this matter. Thanks, to both of you, Drmies (talk) 16:15, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
My apologies also for intruding; I had the same reaction as User:Drmies in that I couldn't find any evidence of notability. I was about to delete the article when another admin took it to AfD, and that may well be the best overall solution that will give everyone time to express their opinions and refer to policies. Incidentally, I read your note below and I'm extremely sympathetic; I do a lot of new page assessment myself and every once in a while I find myself in exactly the situation you describe, where I work quickly and feel bad about it later. My solution, which you may have already found, is to take some time either away from WP or to work on some other aspect for a week or two; it may be of some help to you to consider, though, that your contributions are valuable and your heart's in the right place, because new page patrol is valuable and difficult work, IMHO. Accounting4Taste:talk22:52, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
No need to apologize for "intruding" at all. Nobody intruded--what you two did is probably a mild example of WP:BOLD. I appreciate everybody's input and encouragement. I didn't realize this was such a complicated situation--complicated being defined as "involving a lot of people". I hope to contribute to new page patrol in a positive way in the future. --I dream of horses (talk) 23:33, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi, I've declined your speedy of Anna Cymmerman and replaced it with a notability tag as I take award winning as an assertion of importance. May I suggest that you consider installing Hotcat? Very often with brand new articles its really too early to tell what their potential is, but categorising it brings it to the attention of those interested in that category and is usually well appreciated by the author. ϢereSpielChequers07:55, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Actually, I have hotcats. I'll take your advice. I think I think too quickly in speedy tagging--bad habit, I know.
Hi, it can be a close call when something would almost certainly be deleted at AFD but probably doesn't qualify for speedy deletion. But remember we have a three level deletion process with speedies for the utterly non contentious, AFD for the arguments and prod in between. The reason I suggest hotcat to new page patrollers is too encourage an attitude of if in doubt categorise, and remember someone put some effort into writing that article. ϢereSpielChequers06:07, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Looking at the article King's Theatre, Glasgow I see a Template at the bottom called Theatres in Scotland. I could take a crack at cleaning up your user page, but that requires that I edit your user page. If you want me to, I could give it a go. I am one who believes in "keep it simple." Let me know, okay? LA @ 19:35, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Go ahead, and do it. Just make it organized looking. I want it blue if you do colors.
Copy User:Lady Aleena/sig.css to User:I dream of horses/sig.css making changes to it for your account, and then in your preferences under signature put . Then, during long conversations, just remember to take out the talkback messages from your last signature to keep the conversation as clean as possible. Also, that message only appears on user talk pages. On any other talk page, it will produce a simpler signature.
I will see what I can do on your user page. I have a user infobox that I could add to it, which you could fill in. The description is here. LA @ 18:33, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, the first thing you need to do is write a lead section about yourself. If you need inspiration, read mine. Also, you have template clutter at the top of your user page. I am currently fixing a user infobox, adding a few new things, which you can then add to put a lot of little things in so people can get a good at-a-glance view of you and your work here. After we get that done, then we can make it pretty. :) LA @ 19:22, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
I would suggest a few wiki-links to articles that you care about like horses and neurodiversity and projects like Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting. I don't think you need userpage, that template IMO is really not necessary. :) (I am a bit distracted at the moment, I got a phone call right as I started writing this message.) Under Funny vandalism, I would suggest making that a list. Please let me get finished with the expansion on the template. LAIf you reply here, please leave me a Talkback message on my talk page. @ 20:13, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

The article i am creating is about a legendary architect who continues to inspire several thousands of architects and designers. his works are masterpieces in architecture and i don't feel that it should be deleted. visit http://www.kebyar.com/journal_index.htm and see the part on nari gandhi. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Inarchit (talk • contribs) 01:51, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
I appreciate the barnstar. I NPP as well and find the 95% of articles with zero references irritating as well. Radio station articles are easily referenced with government sources. I declined the speedy tag on the above-captioned article, thinking that it was certainly excusable to have missed the reference to the OBE (Order of the British Empire) in all the misspellings, but I'm starting to regret my action since I followed the link to the "heraldic order" mentioned in the article and found that it was available for purchase on eBay. (!) My apologies; I have PRODded the article and will be keeping a very watchful eye on it. Accounting4Taste:talk22:38, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Maybe I shouldn't have removed it. I am realizing this, and I am sorry. I should've assumed good faith.
Sometimes, a newcomer gets too enthustatic when they write about something. How can you politely write it so somebody who is reasonable think it's a horrible mention will be like "I can tolerate that", but you can say that, too? --I dream of horses (T) @ 15:39, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
Not sure I understand the last part of your message "How can you politely write it so somebody who is reasonable think it's a horrible mention will be like "I can tolerate that", but you can say that, too?" but I appreciate your trust and will add my comment back to JJ's page. TSI2009TSI2009 (talk) 15:57, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
See this for context.
I would like people to show less bad faith. What is going on here is one of the oldest tricks in the book, if for some reason you don't like some content, you call "plagiarism! copyright violation!" if it is taken verbatim from the source cited, and you call "WP:OR! WP:SYNTH!" if the source's wording is altered in the slightest way. In both cases, you revert. In fact, you can use both accusations for the same content [1][2], it's not like anyone is keeping track after all.
Goodness! I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but it sounds like a very bitter and involved argument!
unsolicited advice: I see that you have a few choices. You can leave the article (or subject) alone, or you can stay. If you leave, you can stay away forever or come back at a later time. If you stay, you can work on other, more controversial areas in the article (or subject), or you can stay in the debate, and continue to work in the controversial areas.
believe me, I know how this goes -- I have more than four years of experience with this kind of patriotism on Wikipedia. The nice thing is that policy is on the side of the encyclopedist, so that given enough time the patriotic trolls always lose. Which should really go without saying, but sometimes it really takes a little longer that a naive reading of WP:NOT would suggest. You can read all about this problem at User:Moreschi/The_Plague. --dab(𒁳)15:54, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

dream, please do not tag articles for full professors at major universities as not indicating notability--they are almost always notable as shown in AfD. But in any case, the bar for speedy is much less than for notability--it is merely the assertion or indication of importance or significance. Asserting someone has published a book with a well known publisher is by itself sufficient to escape speedy, as is asserting or indicating someone is a professor at any level in a university. Not that all of them are notable--far from it--but they pass speedy. DGG (talk) 23:05, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Cripes! I think I will, at this point, take a sabbatical from new page patrol! My apologies, DGG!
Most of your patrolling is pretty good--it helps to do only a few at a time--after I've looked at New Pages or Recent Changes for a while, and dealt with the high proportion of garbage, everything tends to look like junk. The best way to learn how to use speedy is watch --and join--some of the discussions on the talk page WT:CSD. As for universities, and passing Notability, see WP:PROF. A better wording would have been major research university--the world-famous ones. The quality of the university isn't a formal criterion, but it affects the results rather sharply. There is no reliable formal listing to use, it has to be learned, and it is a little different in different fields. In terms of passing just speedy, almost anything will do. My barnstar
Wow![3] That's the first one I've ever gotten. Thank you very much.
And thank you also for your generous rating and comment about the lede of All Souls Unitarian Church (Tulsa, Oklahoma). I did puzzle over an appropriate lede for that article. That church is not only one of the world's biggest UU churches, but has been a very important voice for liberal causes in super-conservative Tulsa for decades. But I wasn't sure how to make that clear (and sourceable) in the lede while keeping to DYK standards and without overstepping the bounds of WP:NPOV. If you have any ideas, by all means! Hi there, I remember you from a while back, and have had your talk page on my watchlist since. Your talkpage (as well as you) keep popping up on it. And I've been meaning to give you one of these for a while. Unfortunately, you do so much here, that it's hard to decide which area to give you an award for (it's unfortunate that I couldn't decide, that is, not that you do so much ;D). Well I couldn't decide, so here you go, the original ;)
The Original Barnstar
For your continuous good work here; your civil and kind interactions with others, your work at WP:MOTTO, fighting vandalism, and patrolling new pages, and cleaning-up pages. I, Kingpin13 (talk), award you this long overdue, and well deserved, Original Barnstar.
No problem :). Also, I've Fixed it now, it's just because in the process of copying and pasting, you got rid of the line breaks, which I've added back in (also, I've kept the rest of my message in (i.e. the parts not in the barnstar) as that's what you did, but feel free to remove any of it (e.g. the title) if you want). Cheers - Kingpin13 (talk) 23:55, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I dream of horses. I just created an article (my fourth) and it was immediately hit with tags and deletions of what I thought were important sections of explanation. I'll live with it, I guess, but it was quiet a surprise. Is it common practice to rip at the tender new shoot (garden jargon) that a new article is. I would love to learn more about the process so that my next article does not suffer the same fate.--Buster7 (talk) 17:44, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
First off, you are more than welcome to undo my edits if you wish. As I say, edit mercilessly, critique mercifully. You don't need to "just live" with my, or any editors', edits. Use "I'll just live with it." as a last resort. if you feel strongly about something, do something about it--like you are now! Thank you!
Secondly, no articles are ever "tender". They can live with being tagged, being shortened, being lengthened, being vandalized, being debated over, being nominated and rejected for being a good or even featured article over and again, and sometimes, in exceptional cases, even being deleted repeatedly. Articles are resilient critters. You don't need to tend over them like you would a garden.
I can't speak for other people, but I tag to say "This needs to be improved, but I don't know how, or don't have the time to improve it." It's my firm belief that all articles have potential, even featured articles. If I believe there's an issue, I'm not going to just leave it alone. Mind you, I probably should go ahead and go the talk page, but I've never done that. I should. Sorry about that.
I deleted a section because I felt if somebody wanted to know what a jesuit was, they'd go to the article, not to a jesuit priests' page. Know what I mean? --I dream of horses (T) @ 18:57, 9 August 2009 (UTC)

I wish you had told me about your wikibreak before you went on your trips, but it's fine. No crises.
I have done a number of things since we last talked. I have participated in the Civility poll, and also in the WP:PUMP/RFC area once. It seemed rather dramatic, and I haven't participated since.
I have also been awarded a barnstar, and today I am Wikipedian of the day. If you want to look at them the Awards subpage is under "I dream of horses subpages".
My apologies. I should have left you a message before the flight. Anyhow, it's good to hear that you're getting involved with the discussions that make Wikipedia tick. I tend to avoid the "drama filled" places on Wikipedia, though I do participate whenever I have the urge to do so (e.g. someone I've seen nominated at an RfA, or a discussion where I might be able to add something meaningful). –blurpeace(talk)05:23, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Cookie dough bites
Resolved
Hello again,
Thank you for following up on the Cookie dough bites article & merging the material into the main article. This was a good and sensible thing to do.
Unfortunately the way you did it broke attribution. When ever you merge material you must follow the steps outlined at Help:Merge. In short, you must:
Note where the content is being merged to in your edit summary that turns the old page into a redirect. ("merging content to destination")
Add a R from merge template to the newly created redirect
Note where the content is coming from in your edit summary that adds the merged material. ("merging in content from source")
Taking these steps insures proper attribution in order to comply with our licensing agreements. User:Flatscan was kind enough to go behind you are fix the error this time, so no further action is need. However, I thought you should be aware of how to do this properly in the future.
No worries - just wanted to make sure it was done properly next time. Don't feel bad as it seems very few people know about this requirement - most merges I see are done incorrectly. --ThaddeusB (talk) 15:57, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Not sure exactly how that would work, but yes, there should be a way to get this information out there better than just expecting people to magically know it. I'll try to brainstorm a solution. In the mean time, let me know if you think of anything/have more details on how a semi-automated merger process would work. --ThaddeusB (talk) 21:07, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
It would probably be in huggle. That way, if you don't need a semi-automated way to merge, there would be a (albeit very convoluted) way to not have it.
Hi. I responded at my talk page, but I'm interested in jumping into this discussion (maybe move to Help talk:Merging?). Feel free to respond in either location (no talkback required), and I will follow your conventions thereafter. Flatscan (talk) 04:23, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Well, when the award was originally given to me, the two coins was on one row. Now it's on two rows. When Buster and I discussed the award, our discussion was included within the award itself, which was incredibly odd. I'm worried that happen again if I get another award. --I dream of horses (T) @ 15:59, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
I fixed the problem with later comments being included within the award (that was because the |} was on the wrong line). For me it looks like the two coins are on the same line, so it would be difficult for me to fix (because I wouldn't know whether it's working on your screen or not (try changing the zoom level. And what size screen do you have?). - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:11, 17 August 2009 (UTC)
Hey! I tried zooming out and the coins ended up on one line!
Cool, it'll just be that your screen is pushing them together. It'll look fine on other screens. But if you want it to work on yours, simply change the image's sizes (they are currently 100px) until it works (use preview) - Kingpin13 (talk)

You could've avoided this altogether if you completed the article before putting it in the article namespace (for example, by writing it in a subpage of your user page). Sorry for the assumption of bad faith.--I dream of horses (T) @ 17:29, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
This has never come up before. I always create a new page this way in order to allow others to join in the creation process right away. Tmangray (talk) 17:33, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
In my opinion, it's better to do it the way I suggested so there's more "there" there to edit. It also helps new page patrollers like myself. If you have ever new page patrolled in the past, you know that it's pretty hard to distinguish an article that is in the process of being created, and one that actually is, for example, just a dictionary definition. You might want to use the underconstruction tag in the future. --I dream of horses (T) @ 17:39, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
CSD A7 does not require that the person be notable. just that the article indicate some plausible importance or significance. This is ,deliberately, a very much lower criterion. If it shows something, but you think not enough, the proper course is prod or AfD -- after looking for additional material yourself, per WP:BEFORE. That Constance Rosenblumhas published two books is certainly at least some indication of notability -- and she is probably notable. For Stacey Marie Kerr. and Adrianne Ahearn I have my doubts about actual notability, but they do pass speedy DGG ( talk ) 18:49, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Forgive me if I'm doing this wrong, but your argument for deletion of my article in seems unfounded. If the problem is in the way it is formatted, than it would have been kinder and more helpful for you to suggest editing methods to make it conform with standards. If you have a problem with the person the page is about, then you have obviously not looked at any of the links or references, as this professor is a highly regarded linguist who has published many books and has been interviewed by many sources. Please explain your reasoning and try to be nicer to newbies instead of attacking them. -Saturnalia9
If the problem is in the way it is formatted, than it would have been kinder and more helpful for you to suggest editing methods to make it conform with standards.
Actually, I did more than that. I added the article, Dennis Baron, to what are called Wikiprojects and categories, both of which make the article easier to find. I edited the page for a neutral point of view, among various other things you can learn about if you click on the "history" tab of both the article and its' respective talk page. I don't mean this in a demeaning matter--I know you probably didn't know about the history tab, and am merely stating the facts.
If you have a problem with the person the page is about, then you have obviously not looked at any of the links or references, as this professor is a highly regarded linguist who has published many books and has been interviewed by many sources.
I've looked at the external links, and the references. They don't state why Dennis Baron is notable. His article doesn't either. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Please explain your reasoning and try to be nicer to newbies instead of attacking them.
While writing an article is a brave act, it's not something you should do while you consider yourself a "newbie"--being a "newbie" doesn't exempt you from having an article or edit deleted. Experienced editors have "their" articles deleted, too. Imagine the odds an article has if it's written by a new editor.
UPDATE: I have edited the article to provide numerous sources confirming claims about the individual. Also, everybody on the article's talk page has agreed that the page should be kept. I know the page may still need editing, but I hope you will reconsider your deletion request. (T)
I'm impressed. I've decided to withdraw my nomination for deletion, because the article has a snowballs' chance in Hell of being deleted, both because of the deletion discussion, and because of your improvements. Now I know why Dennis Baron is notable.
Hi, just to let you know that you might have mixed up something with the prod reason for this article. Millner is not a musician. But the article should go anyway. --Pgallert (talk) 14:36, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for helping me and my colleagues test the NICE interface modification. Depending on when you installed the tool, you were only presented with a specific subset of the features we have developed. We are ready to roll out the full feature set which, we expect, will make the gadget significantly more useful. Before we do that, we'd like you to answer a few questions about your activity in Wikipedia as it relates to undoing other's edits and what you thought of the NICE features you were shown.
The survey will ask for your Wikipedia username, but you can participate anonymously if you choose. To do so, send me an email with an address I can respond to and I will have the survey software respond with an anonymous token for you to continue. --EpochFail(talk|contribs)17:43, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

It looks like I'll have to wait until tomorrow before I'll be able to test a comparable machine. I know this is a lot of trouble and I appreciate your time is limited. If you don't get around to the screenshot, I'll still be able to do some testing in Safari tomorrow and I can let you know how that goes. --EpochFail(talk|contribs)19:54, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Somewhere on your keyboard you will see a "Print Screen" button (or "Prt Sc"), often in the upper-right corner, above the arrow keys etc.), press this button to copy an image of the screen. Sadly, stuff like that gets made all the time. Do you know about the 'joke warning' templates, by the way? They can be useful; see WP:WARN which lists all of 'em - although, personally, I try not to rely on templates. It's always good to try and talk to the user, explain things. My article was not a joke, it was basic information about the students of the school. The outcome of the discussion regarding deletion of the article was that it should be kept. Thank You. I Dream of Horses, for making my day better.
I've seen your edits doing CVU stuff.. Following your link today led me to your excellent userpage, which put a smile on my face. Your way of putting assortedissues we share certainly bettered my day, as well as your "Mystical Unicorns' Garage Band". You made me smile on a day I'd given to tears.

You're quite welcome. Feel free to email me if you ever need to talk.
By the way, the mystical unicorns article and the multiple garage band articles were completely separate. I didn't realized it can be interpreted in the way you did until I put it up there. I then thought it was funny so I never corrected it.--I dream of horses (T) @ 17:50, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I was aware that the mystical unicorns' garage band was a figment of my imagination, but.. Reality is only what we perceive it to be; sometimes we may choose our own reality. In a way I guess that's my 'interpretation'. Besides, it's pretty funny to see the lead singer up on her hind hooves neighing into the mike, especially with all the magical sparkles in the air illuminated by the neon light from their horns.. And have you ever seen a drummer play with two hoovesand their horn?!
Funny?! whoops - guess I had intended on seeming(Or was I being?) whimsical and found my own humor in it.. In retrospect, I guess by funny I meant humorous. Somehow, when I read, as opposed to write funny, I see fun, which appears too much like a peak heading toward a valley to me.

Please be patient with me. I was only trying to keep the article form being deleted. His obituary appeared in my newspaper and I noticed the similarity to the name of a favorite actor of some people I communicate with on a TV show message board.
I had a third source but ran out of time to use anything from it. It turned out to be mostly a duplication of what I already had. But I reworked the article some and changed the footnotes accordingly. Now everything from one of the sources is in a couple of paragraphs.
I was under the impression that his notability needed to be emphasized rather than details of his life, but I guess there was enough in his general biography to show why he did what made him famous.
See how it looks now. This is a time-consuming process. Maybe I'll find more about him later.
Well, I ran out of time to do it properly before someone put templates on it. And I'm the only one to add meaningful content so far. Others have rearranged and suggested improvements, but not the actual content yet.
inuse is really more useful when you're not going to wait two days to add more, though I have used it when I had lots of time in one day. I had lots to do in the real world.Vchimpanzee· talk·contributions·18:50, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

First off, please use normal English when talking on Wikipedia. There's people who don't read English very well, and "chatspeak" makes it harder for them
If you want, you can get adopted. You can also join a few wikiprojects, click the "random page" button and see what articles need help, or ask questions about Wikipedia at the help desk for new contributors. You might want to test out edits at the sandbox.
First off, please sign your talk page posts by putting four tildes (~~~~) after your name.
Wikipedia is not a place to *just* make friends, but to build an encyclopedia and then make friends in the process. A few ways to talk to other people while building an encylcopedia is:
...contains Talkback, which is better accomplished with Talkback.
Also, are you using some sort of black magic to cause that to not appear on your talkpage when you sign? Or am I missing something... --KingÖomie15:52, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
If you mean 'it appears', I see I dream of horses (T)... --KingÖomie16:01, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Can't help you with why I dream of horses can see it (you are both talking about her talk page right?) But about the black magic; If she has substed an if expression, then it won't show up on her talk page (nor in the code, thanks to the subst). For example: . - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:32, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, I considered that (in fact, it was my first thought), but in that case, neither of us would be able to see it. If she doesn't want to post it, that's fine. In this case, I don't think it's a violation of the spirit of WP:SIG#NT, as the parsing template isn't being used to subvert the length restriction, it accomplishes something not possible in plain text, and it isn't a vandalism target. --KingÖomie16:36, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
Aye, so long as it stays substed. I always thought WP:SIG is taken too seriously in some cases (not this one :D). I think I dream of horses may just not realise you were talking about her talk page? It's certainly not showing up for me in this thread :/ - Kingpin13 (talk) 16:46, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
When she signs any other page, the gold TB bar above appears after her name, and before the timestamp, in a single edit. When she signs THIS page... well, you see it. She was saying she sees the gold bar in her sig on this page as well. I can understand WP:SIG being taken seriously (sort of)- there's so much potential between HTML and wikimarkup to do dumb, dumb things, there needs to be a fallback for admins to justify enforcing a sig change. --KingÖomie16:48, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
(unindent) Oh wait, so my signature doesn't show up as all HTML-like? Re-reading the above, I think that's what you meant. Sorry about that. I have a huge tendency to misinterpret what's been said.
Yeah, it's subst'd, so it doesn't show up here. --I dream of horses (T) @ 17:14, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Ah, I can see how you'd think that. I had it <code>'d to show the source. How'd you get it to subst? I was under the impression that the raw sig would refuse to do that, and I can't find a hacky template in your userspace ;D --KingÖomie13:09, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
If you want the talkback trail after my signature, copy and paste what's here into your own sig.css. Whenever you see "I dream of horses", replace it with your screen name. --I dream of horses (T) @ 16:48, 14 September 2009 (UTC)
If I'm not mistaken, you can copy and paste what you have on your user page to Aldo Villegas and it'll show up on Wikipedia immediately.
Let me give some unsolicited advice. You aren't required to read the following because the article is okay as is. However, the following reading material is worth reading to improve it. You may want to read this, and this, even though you probably already know some of what is contained within it. This says Aldo Villegas is notable, but is worth reading anyway. --I dream of horses (T) @ 01:54, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I tried it, and it involves installing many things that I am not even sure I've gotten rid of (I decided it wasn't worth it). Huggle is really choppy, even with my moderately fast internet connection and pretty new Mac. You have to download and install gigabytes of stuff, Darwine for instance, as well as X11, something that comes in your OSX install disk. Unless improvements are made, I do not recommend trying it as it is (in my opinion) a waste of time better spent on other things. Sorry for hijacking your talk page, I dream of horses :). If you are going to propose mergers without content having been added to a new article and within two minutes of the article creation... Economics and energy, maybe you could at least stick around to discuss what you did, which I think was probably a mistake given that the content in the two articles is very different. Do you follow up on that sort of thing? If not why not? Think about getting involved in the discussion and not doing drive by tags, its created problems in my opinion. The discussion is here Energy economics. skip sievert (talk) 17:19, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
I have read the discussion, and have decided not to merge. SInce the discussion is ongoing, I'll let you guys figure it out for yourself.
You are not the direct cause no, but a statement that you do not support a merge, since that seems to be the case, seems in order. You are the original tagger. You did tag it way way prematurely in my opinion, but I do not wish to argue that point. It would be appreciated if you could make a statement because the issues there are going around in circles. Your comment of deciding not to merge may be important to the discussion. Thanks, and I like your wiki name. I like horses also. skip sievert (talk) 01:04, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

If someone comments on your talk page, you usually reply on eirs' unless ey say differently. Some people expect that you have watchlisted the talkpage, and ey will reply eir own talkpage. Others', like me, will leave a talkback temp on your page, and reply on the eir own talkpage. Usually there's a temp on the top of the talk page stating the "rules" if they are different than the norm.

I've posted comments on talk:BizFilings, but I wanted to add them here as well.
I believe the BizFilings article has been flagged for deletion because you believe it does not meet the notability requirements.
BizFilings is a subsidiary of Wolters Kluwer, a global company based in The Netherlands and trading on the EuroNext stock exchange. It's also part of CT Corporation, the leading Registered Agent provider in the United States.
Typically, BizFilings does not use the Wolters Kluwer or CT Corporation brands in its promotion or public communication. However, it is notable that the largest U.S. Registered Agent company(which is more than 100 years old) one of the top 3 global professional publishers (along with Thomson-Reuters and Reed-Elsevier) has a small business division operating independently in Madison, WI.
BizFilings has also grown to be the second largest incorporation service for small business owners in the U.S. -- second only to Legal Zoom, Inc. which does have a valid article on Wikipedia, despite the fact that they too are an online-only business.
Before you read further, let me apologize for my bluntness. I know you rather new, and you must be rather confused, frightened, or even angry now. I hope you don't feel bitten by the way I communicate.
Also, you need to spend time explaining why your article should be included on its' talk page and actually improving and stating its' notability somewhere in the article.
Just one more thing. I didn't give you the second notification. A bot did.
@I dream of horses... Thanks for your response. I have left an explanation (just above your comment on this page) about why I believe the article to be notable. What is the best way for me to prove notability? I have links to additional third party sources like magazines and news periodicals. But, will that be enough to have the SPEEDY deletion template removed from the administrator?
I see that the BizFilings page we've been discussing has been deleted. Based on my earlier arguments (posted on your talk page), and your comments, I expected that it would pass the notablility test and remain as a listing. How do I go about putting this page up and keeping it there. I believe my notability arguments are sound -- especially because BizFilings, Inc. is one of only two major online incorporation services that do significant national advertising (on television, radio, and magazines). Legal Zoom is the other -- and the Legal Zoom page has been allowed by the Wikipedia reviewers. If the BizFilings page doesn't pass the notability test, than neither should LegalZoom.
I would like to ask that you reconsider the deletion - or provide some coherent argument for why one of only 2 major online incorporation services would be allowed to remain, and the other not.
Julieapeck (talk) 23:10, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure why BizFiling hasn't been allowed to be on Wikipedia, and the corporations you mentioned has. I wasn't the one who deleted the page. In fact, I can't delete pages because I am not an admin. Please click on the blue text to figure out better what happened. (Edited to add: User:Hersfold was the admin who deleted the page) --I dream of horses (T) @ 23:18, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
Hello, I dream of horses. What were you going for with the successive blockquotes on the Janice Dickinson article? The reason I reverted that is because neat prose is preferred to successive blockquotes. I am not seeing why you felt they were needed. I could better understand that idea if they were four sentences long, as Wikipedia's formatting guideline states that quotes that long or longer should be in blockquotes.
On a side note: I see that you are a vegetarian, like me...and even have a funny vandalism section on your user page, like me (I'm not sure if you would find mine funny or not, or just more crass, but check it out). Flyer22 (talk) 21:54, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

As for your user page, just ask yourself the following questions: What is your internet alias, if you have one? If you aren't at risk for online predators, how old are you and where is your general location? If you are at risk for online predators, why? Do you have any bias or conflicts of interests you need to state? Can anything else about you affect editing, and if so, how? What do you like? What don't you like? I'm sure you get my point. Just talk about yourself. --I dream of horses (T) @ 00:15, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

This means that "she was seven years old with her older sister",
not "Kim began skating with her older sister"
I can't see anyone being genuinely confused by the first statement, unless their instruction in English was minimal. The second is more grammatically correct. No need to come complaining to the editor. --King Öomie22:44, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

My grammar might be not correct due to expressive and pragmatic language differences and because I am a human being, and I am also prone to making mistakes...well, because I am a human being; so please don't tell me to learn correct English. I spent over a decade in speech therapy doing so, which occurred, at minimum, once a week, and graduated with my great amount of progress being noted. Hello.
I spotted your rollback on the article about REDCODE file format. I think there have might be a misunderstanding or a mistake by me. I did not do any vandalism, also because, up to now, I am practically the sole contributor to the page I created myself and hope will have contributions from the world of digital cinema post-production very soon.
I also spotted that my penultimate revision to the paper lacked more than half of the article itself; it seems like I erased half of the article; don't know if that is the cause but, if thas is, it was an unpurposed and fixed it now. I think I improved the paper very much since the version which it has been rolled back to.
I am no new to Wikipedia and both contributed and created several articles; that is the first time I find myself in this situation and apologize if I am not too expert of direct review interactions like this one; I am more than willing to provide my contribution, consulence, advice if required; especially because I think there might have been a mistake.
Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit that you made to Oprah's Book Club has been reverted or removed because it was a misuse of a warning or blocking template. Please use the user warnings sandbox for any tests you may want to do, or take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Thank you.

Hi there, I wanted to ask about your warning to an anon here. It may have been run of the mill, but "P.S. Nobody cares!" isn't your nicest form of vandalism, and should be taken a tenth of a notch more seriously. That's why I used the template that I did. The anon was defaming the reader. Literal? Perhaps. --I dream of horses (T) @ 22:48, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

You are hereby invited to join the Cabal, and help conquer other pages for our cause. See User:Hi878/Earth Cabal for more information. Thank you, have a nice, irregular weather day, and welcome to Earth.

Oh, wait. This is a peaceful movement? And I didn't hack into a computer to play thermonuclear warfare? Dang. (Joking, people, joking!) --I dream of horses (T) @ 05:24, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
So, will you join in my movement? :) I've just decided to revive this cabal, it's been dead for a rather long time, and I decided to take it over, and move it to my userspace... Anyhoo, join! Hi878 (talk) 06:28, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi, I dream of horses,
Regarding this [5]previous comment on your talk page, I don't know if you have kept an eye on the editor, but they are now causing grief here [6]. Possibly this stems from me reverting them here [7], where they removed references without giving any reason/edit summary. As you noted they are rather uncivil. :-( Should this perhaps be taken further? --220.101.28.25 (talk) 03:18, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Usually, a wikiettiquette alert is warranted by this point. I'll support anyone who files an alert, including participating in the discussion, but I've decided to ignore drama for the time being. In other words, I'll participate in a wikiettiquette alert, but won't start one because I'd rather pay attention to other things. --I dream of horses (T) @ 05:15, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, avoiding drama is good if possible, but this editor needs to practice wp:civility and wp:Consensus not wp:Do What I Say. The least they could do is give edit summaries, which they are often failing to do after making significant changes to articles. They don't appear to be a newbie. I smell socks. (Is that a breach of wp:civil?) :-o I'll do a little digging and try an 'informal' route to reform their behaviour. You are the only editor so far who has suggested archiving. Probably a good idea, must admit I haven't looked into it. I had the impression that we 'anon' couldn't archive, but seems we can! Thank you for your reply and views, I'll let you know if anything 'interesting' happens. Happy Editing! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 07:22, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
If you want to accuse somebody of sockpuppetry, do so here, but of course there's an issue of "Who does this sockpuppet belong to?". The answer is required to verify the sockpuppetry.
Xy seems like somebody who just isn't really competent, and highly resents it. Best to avoid xym, I'd say. It's not as if you can change xym without xys' consent.
Unless xy is wikistalking you, or is otherwise significantly interfering with other peoples' right to edit, in that case, please, go ahead and post notices at the appropriate places.
Really? I'll take another look. They're giving static IP's a bad name! >:-( sigh+. At least the situations being discussed. Also, in case I miss you, "Happy Wikipedia First Birthday"! Best Wishes! --220.101.28.25 (talk) 01:59, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Ah, it must be my first edit day! Yay me!
I know, they are giving all ip addresses a bad name, and at the very least, get to have another forum for their ranting. --I dream of horses (T) @ 03:52, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Talkback usage
I don't use that feature in general, but I've noticed you adding a step to delete something from it where no one else does. According to the Template:Talkback page, you shouldn't have to do that. Notice how I'm doing it here:
Baseball Bugs
I have a small message that I added on to the end of my signature saying that, basicially, to please use the talkback temp if they wish to continue the discussion. Of course, that wouldn't be needed if I'm the one using talkback, as people would, in fact, take the hint and continue the discussion on my page. --I dream of horses (T) @ 00:27, 10 May 2010 (UTC)
. . . for the Barnstar. It is nice to occasionally receive recognition for my efforts. I was actually looking for further information to put into the article when you posted the barnstar. So far much of what I have found has been far too technical for a general encyclopedia article, but there must be more. JamesBWatson (talk) 19:02, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, that unfortunately is a problem with writing or rescuing articles. The problem is, that even experts have issues with making articles understandable. Just put the information in. You can always write, or link to articles explaining the more technical aspects. --I dream of horses (T) @ 19:07, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
Well, I've added a couple of bits, and I may add more. I doubt, though, that I will take the article beyond stub level. JamesBWatson (talk) 19:15, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
I've found some more accessible information, and have added some of it to the article. It is now looking quite different than it was when it was created. Out of habit I had just looked on Google for information, which proved to be not very helpful. For some reason it took me a while to think of trying the link given by the article's original author, which turns out to have plenty of usable information. I may even come back and do more to it, but not now: I've spent enough time on it at the moment. JamesBWatson (talk) 19:48, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
