I would like to say this that I'm baffled by your judgement (which is very correct most of the times) to add a source like this to the article to commemorate that international press is reeking of criticism. The source is laughable at best and I cannot in any way consider it to be serious criticism. Statements like "In the end, if using a dead family to sell records it works, good for her, what is clear is that she or her team seek to make up the data so desperate" reeks of unprofessional writing and I would go as far as to say that its a case of WP:BASICHUMANDIGNITY when everything they are doing is speculating about the Amazon price. Remember even Billboard has not reported on the pricing and if there was any significant sales increase, they would have. Till today Born This Way first week is reported with an asterix (*) for $0.99. —IB [ Poke ] 06:13, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@IndianBio: First, thanks for your message and I apologize if I "decreased" the article with the edit. Is not my intention, course, always I'm trying to do and to assume good faith in my contributions to the project. I like Gaga and other musicians but sometimes I'm extremist about the neutrality and (you know: present all side of the information, including something "good" or "not really good" about the topic) even if is Madonna ("cultural impact of Madonna" could be an example). About the edit, I tried to use both sources in different languages and others like this in Portuguese but after all, you have reason that this magazine makes derogatory comments about Gaga and is not good idea put the sentence. Also, I ask a little patient because some of the essays on English Wikipedia and other things are still new for me. Of course, also I'm not English native so I'm trying to do my best and not worsen some things :). I will as possible, study those links to improve my edits in this Wikipedia and also, I will ask you for help about questions if I have and if you have time and patient hehe because I want to edit more in this Wikipedia's version. Best regards, Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 08:47, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, I'm not having any bad faith at all against you, and yes its true that English not being the primary language can be a barrier sometimes but you are a great editor nonetheless! Regarding this possible scenario I would like to see more sources talking about it like the $0.99 was done I remember during Born This Way. This time it seems more of a "throwing mud on the artist based on previous era" type of reporting going on, which we as editors have to take a stance on. —IB [ Poke ] 08:59, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted

[edit]

Hi Chrishonduras. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Widr (talk) 08:45, 8 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Madonna image

[edit]

Do you intend to use File:Madonna at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong (retouched).jpg in an article somewhere? We generally do work like that for images that will be used to improve articles. -- Begoon 19:19, 11 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Begoon: Oops! I forgot. Thanks for remind me. I already added in this article. Cheers! Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 06:22, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I was archiving my photoshop files, and when I do that I usually check for the obvious things I missed. Normally there's something, because one tends to concentrate on the "fix" one is doing, and miss the glaringly obvious. This time there were a couple of overexposed areas I'd completely overlooked. When I uploaded the new version I noticed the file wasn't used anywhere, which seemed a shame. Thanks for fixing that - I think where you put it is a very good choice, and sorry if it felt like I was "telling you off", I do realise I can come across as too grumpy sometimes. -- Begoon 17:10, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Begoon: Don't worry about that. I don't feel that you're pushing or something like that. On the contrary, good way to have control on your work. And thanks again Good job!. Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 18:02, 12 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Cher

[edit]

You are not adding accurate information. Cher sold over 100 million records, about 140-150 million to be more precise (albums + singles) as a SOLO artist. Adding her sales with Sonny, her record sales reach 200 million. Do your research thank you. Dontspeak22 (talk) 00:13, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Dontspeak22: Please, see WP:OR. And is her own article, not Sonny & Cher. We don't take the next available figures just because one or more sources says that, this is an woozle effect. We're following the criteria from best-selling music artist list that is pretty scrutinized. Also, remember that we already talked about this in the talk page of Cher. So, for this and more, we need to revert those all edits with a figure sales up to 200 million records. Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 00:24, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize but I don't know how to add a source to the page. However I've been researching Cher's sales & 100 million albums is accurate. Believe 20 million, Very Best Of Cher 4 million, Love Hurts 4.5 million, Heart Of Stone 5 million, etc. Her album sales were never huge aside from Believe but the majority of her albums sold at least 1 million. Along with Sonny some of their albums sold 8 million, 5.5 million, etc. Their record sales range from 40-80 million so adding her sales from the duo & her solo sales the total is about 200 million records. Cher's solo record sales are about 150 million (100 million albums + 50 million singles). Take care x Dontspeak22 (talk) 00:52, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Dontspeak22: You can follow this document to add a source in any Wikipedia's page. Other way is copy+paste an example in the own article and later write the correct link, name of source, etc. I'm also believe that she sold more than 100 million copies, maybe 110, 120, or as high up to 150 as solo artist, but is just an conjecture and we don't have any reliable and neutral source about this. Also, we're following the certifications and is a guideline, specially to include all the "best-selling" artists in our list. So, the next available figure about 200 million is grossly inaccurate for her own page (even if we include Sonny & Cher). Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 01:05, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Saludos! Lè franco (talk) 11:30, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 11:54, 8 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No, soy colombiano xDD
Como te había comentado, he visto en otros similares artículos que han usado audios de youtube, obviamente no van a hacer de canales oficiales porque son entrevistas de radio antiguas. Pero bueno.
Saludos --Lè franco (talk) 12:30, 9 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of artists influenced by Madonna, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Usher and Death & Taxes. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

American Pie

[edit]

Your revert of my edit on American Pie [1] concerns me, because your edit summary indicates that you do not understand what I did or why I did it. You state, there is already mentioned in the section that the song received "mixed" reviews. From this, one would infer that you think that I am trying to make the point that her song was somehow not a good cover. Where did you get that impression? I said nothing good or bad about her version; I merely added a factual observation.

You also write, Is not an encyclopedic tone. Chris, I have been editing Wikipedia since 2005, and I can honestly state that no one has ever accused me of this before. In what way is my edit non-encyclopedic in tone?

I think that my points here provide more than enough grounds to revert your revert on the spot, but I believe in respectful communications before doing anything so capricious. Perhaps you have some questions of me? Unschool 06:27, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Unschool: Sorry, I reversed my edit. I verified some definitions about "truncate/d" word again. Was my mistake. I'm apologize for the inconvinient. And don't take personal, I know that you have been editing for a long time and I can see that you're a good user :). Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 06:47, 14 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Paulina sales...

[edit]

I think you're right! I think she sold less than 10 million copies worldwide, and Thalia around 16 millions, but I couldn't find any souce to that. The 15 million for Paulina is more accurate. Do it! ^^ --88marcus (talk) 00:05, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think Thalía has certifications missed, her best selling album is Amor a la mexicana according to a lot of sources, and it didn't chart in Europe (except for France and Spain) or Asia. But if we can put Paulina with 15kk sold, for sure we can put Thalia with 20/25 million worldwide, she has certifications and charted in much more countries. Shakira 100kk sales is probably right, because it means records, not albums, and she sold at least 50 million digital songs, and also had streamings. I don't' know her very well but she's more a worldwide act than Thalia and Paulina, probably she sold more records than J-Lo too... Here's a very accurate article (19 pages) link about her sales, even though we can't use that as a source it seems reliable...--88marcus (talk) 01:29, 19 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok 88marcus. With Shakira just was an opinion after the certifications that she has are very low with + 100 million of records claim. She is virtually most commercial during the 2000's and 2010's (the digital era) and still low. Also, I noted the diferences in "albums" and "records" between several years in the media (English, Spanish, French etc) and I know as user from Wikipedia that she had several problems with vandalism in her sales in all major versions of Wikipedia and was accepted by the media as "reliables figures". But her sales in small countries are impressive, and are several even in Colombia that usually she has Diamond certifications. So, I believe that she sold at least 75 million records and is one of the best-selling artists worldwide. But is okay, I will drop the topic. With Thalía, I don't know, I saw many certifications in old news in countries like Colombia or even other Asian countries beyond Philippines. I also remember a news in Billboard magazine that she received 15 Gold & Platinum records in 15 or more countries from Latin American like Peru, Uruguay and I guess was in 2001 or around those years. I think that she had a similar reward in 1996/1997 when is supposed that she received a "record guiness" by most awards received in a night (personally, I don't believe in this "record guinness"). With Rubio, honestly I never saw certications from official bodies beyond Mexico, United States and Spain (and are few). I know that there are news that she had certifications in countries like Argentina for example, but was weird when CAPIF links worked properly, her name was never appears. I agree with certifications like Chile when is properly referenced. And we have examples that some "certifications" from her are probably "promotional". I remember also the confusion for the Diamond x2 that she received in Mexico and people still think that are by her sales inside, but was worldwide. Curious, because after that we have references like this about the "best-selling albums in Mexico" (according to AMPROFON) and Paulina sold 3 million in that country "alone". We have this list here even. But also I will leave both topics because I don't have enough time now and lost some archives. Thanks for your all help. Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 07:54, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You're right about Thalía, I remember reading that two, but it was an event that certified more than an album, but I'm not totally right abou it. About Shakira I only know this article about her sales (by chartmasters), and you're right about her, she doesn't even appeared in the article List of best-selling music artists, because her certifications are probably too low... So sad latin organizations like CAPIF and AMPROFON are this messs...--88marcus (talk) 21:00, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, 88marcus. I remember certifications in other countries that some albums in Thalía's articles doesn't shows now (I remember in one of them, Colombia for example). And was probably in the 90's and early of 2000's when she was popular by soap operas in over 180 countries that she had those certifications. But again, I don't have time to research and by now, 25 million records looks close to the reality versus 40 million or even 50 million with missed certifications that she has from 90% of sure. True, so sad that organization in Latin American like CAPIF or AMPROFON don't work, even in COLOMBIA with ASINCOL where Shakira has several Diamond awards and other small countries that probably will exceed her minimum required to be listed in the best-selling artists. BTW is clear that she sold at least 75 million records. I'm gonna ask you something about this list. I don't know, looks unreal for me many albums, like the digital sales of Taylor Swift or Rihanna. Maybe are streaming and not pure sales. Weird that IFPI probably doesn't recognise those sales. Can you check something to avoid primary sources please?. Thanks for you good job. Cheers Chrishonduras (Diskussion) 06:00, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Madonna refs

[edit]

The only info that I have about Madonna came from brazilian magazine Veja. It says that True Blue sold 700,000 here , and I also have another one that says that Madonna sold 90,000, Like a Virgin 400,000 and the Live to tell single 60,000. I will search more, but I think that I probably will not find anything that you don't have. To Mexican sales I use the El siglo del terrón archive site (see in Thalia's and Paulina's articles)...--88marcus (talk) 02:39, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Jackson record sales

[edit]

Hi, regarding Jackson's sales there's actually not any source stating 350 million records sold. Unless you can provide one? Also, with all the sources that support that Jackson's sales were 750 million, how would know you if that number is a "big hoax"? If anything, 350 million is. The only site where this number is stated is Wikipedia. You can check online. 8eatle (talk) 16:59, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@8eatle: figures around 750 million or 1 billion are just a woozle effect. You can see a note from the main article about this, and the List of best-selling music artists have and shows accurate sales with the certification reached. Thanks, Chrishonduras (talk) 17:06, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The List of best-selling music artists states that the Beatles have sold 500-600 million, however main article states that they have sold 800 million records. Also, the sources supporting Elvis and the Beatles are just like the ordinary websites that I tried to use to support Jackson's sales. Jackson's "Total available certified units" is also 7 million units higher, but Elvis apparently sold nearly 200 million more records. 8eatle (talk) 17:27, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

With both The Beatles and Elvis Presley i don't know, they are just different cases and we can't reference one article with another one. But in this particular case, there are proofs and documentations that his sales has been manipuled. Regards, Chrishonduras (talk) 17:37, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bing Crosby fan

[edit]

Hi, I saw that you reverted some editions in Wikipedia in Spanish, I have been trying to do the same, but the user redoes it over and over again. He seems to be a Bing Crosby fan and modifies all the articles to exalt him. He uses official websites as references, Billboard reports as a source for certifications, among other things. Spanish is not my language and I don't know where to report vandalism over there, do you know?--88marcus (talk) 05:32, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@88marcus: Done. You know before give my own opinion, i like to investigate. Also, can you please check this list- specially western releases like Taylor Swift. The user who created this insist that all references are "reliable"... but how even IFPI doesn't report that Taylor's figures in their report? That's my opinion, but you may have an idea. Thanks --Chrishonduras (talk) 19:02, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't speak chinese, but I never heard that people sold millions like that in China. The site that give Taylor Swift sales seems more like a blog, it's a ".net" not a ".com". I found this in Ukmix website and the info I got is that those amounto of sales are from all tracks of the record, not the completely album, it also includes streamings... see here.--88marcus (talk) 19:44, 16 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
