Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident in which you may be involved. Thank you.

Hi - I understand that as an employee of Alexis Bittar, you are interested in controlling his image, including on Wikipedia. I realized with your prior Ip based edits [1] that you were an employee, based on your IP address, but did not call you out on that fact. On Wikipedia, it is generally forbidden for a company or individual to write about themselves - see WP:COI. In this case, you have been very obvious about it, using this user name, so I assume you were unaware. Regardless, the content you removed, regarding drug use etc, is clearly supported by cited references - in this case The New York Times. As references go, they really don't get any stronger. I am undoing your edits, again, as they are destructive - removing well referenced and relevant content. If you would like to suggest changes, as a novice, I highly recommend that you first propose them on the Talk page. Destructive and manipulative-appearing edits like these can cause a person to get blocked from editing, and since it comes from within the company's internet addresses, that could have a far reaching effect as admins frequently block address ranges. Also, undoing an experienced Editor's recent changes is usually not a step to be done rashly. I apologize for the rough welcome. I invite you to actively participate in the Wikipedia community, and I'm sure that after learning a few of the ropes, you can make valuable contributions - just be very careful when you are related to the subject.--Nixie9 (talk) 00:16, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

PS - As you may have noticed, I wrote the majority of the current article. To be clear, I claim no ownership, but obviously I'm interested in the subject. I would be happy to help you to include content that you feel tells the Alexis Bittar story - however listing store locations and adding marketing plugs certainly don't qualify. Editorial references are the prerequisite. My assistance is offered to you.--Nixie9 (talk) 00:21, 10 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
