Storylines
[edit]1987–1990
[edit]Lexie is introduced as an officer at the Salem police department. She helps captain Roman Brady (Drake Hogestyn) bust up a prostitution ring impressing both Roman and senior officer Abe Carver (James Reynolds).[1]
1992–2012
[edit]Development
[edit]The role was originated on July 30, 1987, by actress Cyndi James Gossett on a recurring basis. Gossett last appeared as Lexie on February 20, 1989.[2] In 2011, it was revealed that there was an error in on the show's history books that listed actress Sheila DeWindt Wills as the original actress. The information was officially confirmed by James Reynolds who played Abe Carver. The error occurred when Wills who actually played the role of Joan Hopkins in the early 1980s was mixed up with the second actress to play the role of Lexie, Angelique deWindt Francis.[3] Francis made her debut on March 31, 1989 and vacated the role in August 1990. Francis would reprise the role in March 1992 until December 1992. Shellye Broughton appeared as Lexie for a two episode stint in late January 1993.
Actress Renée Jones stepped into the role of Lexie on February 2, 1993 as a contract cast member.[4]
In April 2012, Jones announced that she had decided to retire from acting and the character of Lexie was to be killed off in June 2012.[5] Jones had previously appeared as Nikki Wade from 1982 to 1983.[6]
