"Act No. 327, approved June 3, 1933, established as State highways all turnpikes which had been abandoned or condemned, subject to a resolution passed by either the county commissioners or township supervisors consenting to the assumption of the obligation of construction and maintenance by the Commonwealth and filed in the office of the clerk of the courts of the proper county, and with the Department of Highways. Approximately 660 miles of abandoned turnpikes were established as State highways under this act."

It appears that almost everything from 800 to 999 was a turnpike.
