1) Following the signing of the bipartisan law "No Child Left Behind" in 2002, educators promoted the use of signing with hearing children.
2) When hearing people are exposed to diverse expressions of sign language, they are less likely to maintain negative stereotypes about sign languages. One method of exposure is through the use of baby sign by a caregiver and/or infant.
3) However, infants exposed to baby sign are able to recreate and use the signs before they are able to speak.
