John Witt Randall (November 13, 1813 to January 25, 1892) was a physician, naturalist, professor, poet, and author.[1] Randall's published work of poetry, Consolations of Solitude, first published in 1856, is still in print.[2]
BIOGRAPHY
Randall was born in Boston to Dr. John Randall, an eminent physician of Boston, and Elizabeth Wells, the granddaughter of Samuel Adams, the revolutionary patriot. Randall graduated from Harvard in 1834 and from the medical department in 1839. Randall published a number of scientific papers.[3] Randall was devoted to his ancestral estate in Stow, Massachussets, now the Stow Acres Country Club.[4]
