Mark O Otim, Acholi(5 April 1990) is a African singer-songwriter record producer and music video director who made a name for himself as a musical act in the US, blending mostly Afro-beat, reggae, and hip hop. Known professionally as AFRiCAN DUNDADA (stylized as AFRiCAN DUNDADA)

Early life and career

Born in Pajok, South Sudan Africa and raised in Portland, Maine, AFRiCAN DUNDADA began his musical career in the early-2000s, after which he performed as a solo act at various venues and community events, in 20017, a young struggling, jobless AFRiCAN DUNDADA won an award for the best reggae dancehall act in Portland, Maine.

AFRiCAN DUNDADA'S ACHOLI ORIGINS

Afri was born in the Pajok County, South Sudan mere days before the country erupted in civil war. He spent the first 10 years of his life in Uganda, his father left Uganda to find a better life for the family, Afri and his siblings were raised by his mother and grandparents  Orasio and Juliana Langoya. and in 1999 his family made it to the United States where his family resettled and reunited with his father. Afri grew up in Kennedy Park, a housing project in the Downtown Portland, Maine. The neighborhood the most diverse neighborhood in the state of Maine. where he participated in the Blunt Youth Radio Project on WMPG, one of the oldest and most decorated youth media programs in the United States.

He began freestyling and writing lyrics. Known as "M.O" around the neighborhood, Afri later adopted the showbiz/stage name "AFRiCAN DUNDADA" in homage to his Grandparents Juliana and Orasio Langoya.

It’s been a huge year for the rapper, activist, and visionary who goes by AFRiCAN DUNDADA. Hailing from Portland, Maine the South Sudanese artist has upped his game considerably in 2019, repping the upstart intercultural organization Portland Culture Exchange and hosting fundraiser concerts for immigrant communities and youth. To Afri, the art of making music is inseparable from activism. “I want to help as many people as I can,” he said during an appearance on WMPG’s New Mainers Speak recently. Blurring reggae, dancehall, rap and native South Sudanese music, AFRiCAN DUNDADA is a true Maine artist and credits his move to the state for teaching him how to rap.
