Alfonso Cuarón took over as Head Director for this series, the episode count grew to 22. This was the only season to air in the summer. Originally the third season was suppose to start airing in November 2003 but some episodes were unfinished so Warner Bros. released one extra episode for Season 2 instead and waited until Spring 2004 to start airing Season 3.

Season 4

Mike Newell took over as Head Director for this season. It was David Heyman who decided to split the fourth season up into two parts due to the length of the book, one half airing in autumn 2005, and the other half airing in autumn 2006, the whole season commences in spring of 2007.

It was considered by the producers to split Season 5 up into two parts like Season 4, but decided to produce all 38 episodes in a row. Michael Goldenburg, who previously had only written one episode, became a regular writer in this season. David Yates became the Head Writer for the series.
