Glasgow Devils are a basketball club based in the south side of the city of Glasgow in Scotland who are affiliated with national governing body, basketballscotland. The club currently competes in division 1 of Strathclyde League Basketball Association.
Club History
[edit]The club was established in October 2016 by the current Club Chairman Kamil Cybulski, a former student of Hillpark Secondary School basketball team. The group initially consisted of Hillpark school leavers and players from a local outdoor basketball court in Rouken Glen Park. The group has come together for the first time on 26th of October 2016 and officialy as Glasgow Devils held their very first training session at St. Paul's High School. The club very shortly relocated to Shawlands Academy, the club's current home arena, where the team has made their debut in division 4 of senior men category in Strathclyde League Basketball Association (SLBA) in season 2017/18. Glasgow Devils are known for having great team cohesion within each squad which together with continuous interest in local community has allowed the club to significantly increase its membership and offer more programmes over the time. Glasgow Devils claimed their first piece of silverware as a club in season 2018/19 by defeating Lockerbie Tornadoes in The Executive Cup Final which took place at Clydebank Leisure Centre in Glasgow. In the following season Lockerbie and Glasgow side faced each other again in the semi-finals of The Executive Cup where Devils secured their place in finals to retain trophy, however the event was cancelled due to break out of COVID-19 pandemic.
Mission, Vision & Values
[edit]The club's mission is to create the best opportunity for learning and development in fun and safe environment whilst raising the profile of basketball in Scotland. The vision is to be at the forefront of basketball development in Scotland which will be determined by number of membership, activity provision, competitive achievements and community impact.
The club uses basketball as a tool to teach valuable skills of communication, teamwork, organisation, resilience and work ethics which can be transferred to any aspect of life. Glasgow Devils believes that being part of a basketball team has a positive impact on physical, mental and social wellbeing of people and as a club they strive to encourage more people to join. Devils has been founded on five core value pillars

Awards
[edit]In 2018 Sports Council for Glasgow has named Glasgow Devils a Club of The Year for its exceptional growth, service offerings and contribution to development of sport in community. Earlier in the year the club founder, Kamil Cybulski, received Special Recognition award for setting up Glasgow Devils and providing leadership and direction for club The event took place at prestigious Team Scotland awards night after successful Commonwealth games in Gold Coast for Scottish National Basketball Team. Both awards provided Glasgow Devils with recognition for their work and attracted more members to join the organisation.
