Club History

[edit]

The club was established in October 2016 by the current Club Chairman Kamil Cybulski, a former student of Hillpark Secondary School basketball team. The group initially consisted of Hillpark school leavers and players from a local outdoor basketball court in Rouken Glen Park. The group has come together for the first time on 26th of October 2016 and officialy as Glasgow Devils held their very first training session at St. Paul's High School. The club very shortly relocated to Shawlands Academy, the club's current home arena, where the team has made their debut in division 4 of senior men category in Strathclyde League Basketball Association (SLBA) in season 2017/18. Glasgow Devils are known for having great team cohesion within each squad which together with continuous interest in local community has allowed the club to significantly increase its membership and offer more programmes over the time. Glasgow Devils claimed their first piece of silverware as a club in season 2018/19 by defeating Lockerbie Tornadoes in The Executive Cup Final which took place at Clydebank Leisure Centre in Glasgow. In the following season Lockerbie and Glasgow side faced each other again in the semi-finals of The Executive Cup where Devils secured their place in finals to retain trophy, however the event was cancelled due to break out of COVID-19 pandemic.
