  • Summery Frank, 1985 from SOUTHLAND By Nina Revoyr

Victor was on the phone and that Alma was the one that wrote to Victor. I think Frank felt heartbroken because of this but she wasn’t anything to him. Alma has died from cancer and no one knew about it until the end. Victor at first didn’t want to go to the funeral but he knows that Frank is going to make plans to go. Franks wife Mary didn’t care about Alma because Frank spent so much with Alma and Curtis, so she was feeling left out. Frank left and went to the funeral but didn’t want to see Alma but he rather see her alive. And it sounds like Frank was in love with Alma because it hurt him when she left and hurt him even more when she came to pick up Curtis. Frank and Alma had a kid and he passed away and no one knows that that was Frank’s kid. He couldn’t take the pain anymore so he went to a bridge and wanted to die but he stopped and started thinking about his other family and he wondered if he dies what will happen to them so he decided to stay.

Page 299 on the book SOUTHLAND By Nina Revoyr

“But he loved her, he’d loved her almost all of his life, and the terrible thing about failing someone is that you keep on failing them, no matter how you try to make it up for it.”

I love this quote because it talks about Love and how we all get heartbroken for the ones we truly love.
