At The Solicitor's Request is an eclectic compilation album of Brisbane punk rock and post punk songs either originally released on seven inch vinyl record or as previously unreleased tracks in the period between 1978-to-1985. It was assembled in Brisbane by Rubber Records and was released on LP by Rubber in 1987 with liner notes on each band. It was issued with a controversial cover design that forced the title of this to be changed to "At The Solicitor's Request". This was due to legal advice and stickers were pasted over the word 'Fuhrers' saying 'Solicitor's'.[1][2].[3]

Background and review

At The Solicitor's Request compilation album featured Brisbane Punk rock and Post punk bands during the period between 1978 to 1985. Conceptually designed and compiled by Rubber Records it focused on Brisbane's more noisier bands of the period and the political attitudes that enveloped Brisbane at the time. Controversy over the cover art and title "mirrored the original problems faced by many of the bands on this album".[4] The artwork was made by Paul Curtis, who later on became manager for Regurgitator in the 1990s. The album was mastered by Rob Younger from Radio Birdman and The New Christs. The album liner notes claim that this particular album is "Queensland's first totally independant (vinyl) album...".[5] Brisbane's Time Off magazine in 1987 described the album as reflecting the current taste (1987) for trashy garage guitar music and that "Tracks from furious semi-punks the Leftovers and Public Execution are included, as well a gem from the Mystery of 6's and the Vampire Lovers..." The review also maintained that the album contained "vital stuff" and would "prove that Brisbane once produced some exciting sounds on par with the more popular European acts of the time." [4]
