John Fitzgerald, better known by his stage name Jackie Chain, is an American rapper from Huntsville, Alabama. Well known for his collaboration with Kid Cudi on the track "Rollin'", Fitzgerald has released many other tracks under the name Jackie Chain, many of which are uploaded onto YouTube with music videos.

Biography

Fitzgerald was born in Huntsville, Alabama, to a Korean mother and a white American father. His father met his mother on a military base, and Fitzgerald grew up in a military household and moved all around the world, including South Korea, Germany, and in Texas. He eventually moved back to Huntsville by seventh grade. He attended Buckhorn High School in New Market.[1][2]

Due to distributing drugs, Fitzgerald claimed that he was sentenced to prison where many of his inmates would nickname him "Jackie Chain", a play on words of Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan, with the last name "Chan" being pronounced like "chain" due to southern drawl. He earned the nickname due to being of Asian descent, and frequently performed freestyle verses while he was incarcerated.[1][3]

After his prison sentence, he decided to perform under the name Jackie Chain, and moved out to Atlanta, Georgia.

In February 2012, Jackie Chain performed with rapper Yelawolf at a venue in Huntsville, Alabama.[4] Later that month, an album entitled After Hours was released Chain collaborated with DJ Nick Catchdubs on .[5]
