Resurrection Fighting Alliance, also known as RFA, is an American mixed martial arts (MMA) organization focused on resurrecting the careers of former top contenders, while also developing some of the sport's top young prospects.[1] It was founded in the fall of 2011 by Kirk Brooks and Wayne Harriman. In August 2012, Ed Soares was brought on board as RFA president.[2] RFA has a national television deal with AXS TV.[3]

Background

[edit]

Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) was founded in 2011 and includes a number of prominent businessmen, fight promoters, matchmakers, and others with successful careers in hosting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) shows across the United States.[4]

The RFA's focus is simple: showcase the top contenders in the sport, resurrect the careers of big-name talent others have given up on, and launch all of them into the global spotlight.

Operating between Kearney, Nebraska, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Kansas City, Missouri the RFA aims to become one of the premier Mixed Martial Arts promotions in the country.[5]

Acquisition of Titan Fighting Championships

[edit]

On October 13, 2012, the RFA announced that it had acquired Midwest based Mixed Martial Arts promotion Titan Fighting Championships (Titan FC). The deal included certain fighter contracts and Titan FC's television deal with AXS TV.[6] The announcement was made just three weeks before RFA 4 - Griffin vs. Escudero, which was the promotions first event held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rules

[edit]

RFA's current rules follow the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts that were originally established by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board and modified by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.[7]
