The Book of Mormon Belt
[edit]The Book of Mormon Belt[1] is the areas of the western United States, southern Alberta province of Canada, and northwestern Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua, Mexico of a geographic/religious region with high concentrations of members of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. Its region spans all states of the western United States, the intermountain west and the pacific region.
Eastern border states of The Book of Mormon Belt begins with Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico. Southern borders are of New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California along with spill-over regions of Sonora and Chihuahua Mexico (Colonia Juarez and Colonia Dublán).[2] Northern borders are of Washington, the Idaho panhandle, Montana as well as the spillover area of southern Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta (Cardston, Leavitt, Lethbridge, Raymond, and more).[3] Western borders span along the Pacific states of Washington, Oregon, and California.
On a side note, Florida has the highest membership of the LDS Church outside the Book of Mormon Belt, and the largest in the mission field of the eastern seaboard of the United States, as of December 31st, 2020. Florida ranks the 8th largest membership state of the United States, December, 31st, 2020.[4]
