Incomplete table

[edit]

This table is obviously super incomplete. I'm thinking of adding a new section for parlamentary elections, given that these were sometimes held separately from the presidential ones. This should be a first step into making articles for the earlier elections. Elections were held before 1928 (since 1870), 1928 was the first one where two candidates ran for president. The elections for the congress were, however, contested, though unfair and violent even by the regional standards of the time.

Anyway, I'll makeover this table in a week or so unless anyone has better ideas. Coeusin (talk) 18:39, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, absolutely, if there were parliamentary elections held separate to presidential elections at some point, then it makes sense to separate them. Cheers, Number 57 22:14, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'm 3/4s of the way through it, but the legislative elections are way harder to track down. If you want to remove the line on them I added for now, it's fine, but I thought it's better than nothing.
I know, for instance, that there were legislative elections in 1889 because they were notably violent, but I'm yet to find a source which lists them comprehensively. Almost every year elections for certain districts were held - will look into some books like Warren (1985) to see if I can find something. Coeusin (talk) 22:50, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indirect elections

[edit]

I thought indirect elections deserved their own articles (like the 1985 Brazilian presidential election). If they don't, then all presidential elections before 1928 have to be removed from the table, not just 1882. Cheers, Coeusin (talk) 19:24, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
