Zachary Cope was a famous/well regarded surgeon. His text "Cope's Early Diagnosis of the Acute Abdomen" was considered obligatory reading by surgeons in training. I've started the page and will add to it periodically as I learn more about his decorated career. Please help contribute to this giant in medicine's article. --MartinezMD (talk) 00:13, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Abraham Varghese refers to Cope's book in his novel, "Cutting for Stone," where he calls it, "The Diagnosis of the Acute Abdomen in Rhyme." He includes several putative quotes, all rhymed.

Can anyone verify that the book was actually in rhyme or included rhymed passages.
