Split out the "open seats changing hands" list?

[edit]

Though closely related, the seats changing party list feels out of scope for this page. Should we split to "List of non-incumbent constituencies which changed parties in the 2024 United Kingdom general election" or similar? (Not wedded to that title; happy with whatever wording.) "Open seats" is a bit of a vexed question. There were major boundary changes, affecting almost all of England and Wales. I'm not sure how confident we can be about labelling a particular seat as "open", without there being a clearly-defined succession relation. One could argue that effectively every seat in which there was no incumbent standing is an "open seat", but then any changes would be merely notional based on estimates of the 2019 vote share, which in some cases may have been different from the actual person who had been previously representing most of the area. If this is to be a List of MPs who lost their seat then I'm not convinced that open seats belong here. 62.31.163.130 (talk) 03:40, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
