The article says "fructose lichen". I'm no expert, but is that a typo for "fruticose lichen"? Developer38 03:40, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cratering

[edit]

From Reindeer#Anatomy:

[Cold-weather retraction of reindeer footpads] also enables them to dig down (an activity known as "cratering")[4][5] through the snow to their favorite food, a lichen known as reindeer moss.

Cratering is a Rdr, presently to Reindeer (but i'm at least retargetting it to the above section), and Crater is a Dab that presently lks to the Rdr.

I'm not satisfied that cratering by reindeer justifies "cratering" as a route to this trivial snippet of info, which appears to be as much as we should say on the subject.

The photo does not belong to C. rangiferina. --Dr Oldekop (talk) 13:05, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Which photo? de Bivort 14:30, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The lead photo. After comparing several on Mushroom Observer I agree it looked different, and swapped it with one taken by a trusted lichen identifier. Sasata (talk) 14:33, 25 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
