New Info for 2009

Question

In what language does Disney Channel Asia broadcast? Cause, eg., in Hong Kong there is Chinese, in Philippines there is Filipino and in Malaysia there is Malay! Kubek15T CS 08:59, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The channel broadcasts in Multiple Languages. In Malaysia, it broadcasts in Malay, English and Chinese, thanks to ASTRO. I think DC ASIA only provides the English version and it is up to the service provider to add languages and dub them.IMO, the dubs are not good at all.(mianghuei (talk) 13:47, 14 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Question - Philippine Commercials air on Disney Channel

I've seen some Philippine commercials (e.g. Jollibee, Aqiva, Koko Krunch) in the other day and it feels awkward to see it. Does it happen also in other countries or it just in the Philippines? DJ0215997 (talk) 14:54, 12 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New DC sitcoms/shows

I think new Disney Channel shows are not announced. They are just shown without a promo. Its like a mushroom that comes out of nowhere. Like Jessie, that aired on March 2, 2012. DJ0215997 (talk) 15:07, 2 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposals

I propose that Disney Channel Vietnam be merged into Disney Channel (Asia). It seem more like Disney Channel in Vietnam is just a feed rather than a single feed.jcnJohn Chen (Talk-Contib.) RA 07:23, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah. It is just a feed of Disney Channel Asia. Stranger195 (talk) 00:55, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with Disney Channel Malaysia

Individual feeds are not notable. Call me Keenan (talk) 14:48, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No argument from me. There is a lot of duplicate and unnecessary coverage in these types of articles. Data might be better presented if centralized. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:24, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Merge both directly with Disney Channels Worldwide. Spshu (talk) 15:07, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds like a good plan. --Ahecht (TALK

i'm not agree because Disney Channel Malaysia is Disney Channel Malaysia ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by VFactory90 (talkcontribs) 07:09, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We should merge both into Disney Channel Asia. Stranger195 (talk) 00:55, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Is this a hoax page inadvertently or not? I found a Disney XD (Malaysia) article where in the sources make it clear that it is Disney XD Southeast Asia that just happen to launch first in Malaysia. (As they were swiping the sources that I found from List of Disney XD TV channels.) Humm, Indiantelevision.com as of 2005 indicates that there is only four feeds/channels of Disney Channel in Asia: "Taiwan, Australia/New Zealand, South East Asia/Korea and India" with Southeast Asia/Asia in 11 markets. So unless new sources are found, this should be deleted as a hoax. Spshu (talk) 13:30, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Current programming grid is unsourced

In these 26 edits two IP editors made a wide range of changes to the large grid in the Current programming section. It's all unsourced. How can anyone reasonably be expected to accept the accuracy of a grid that is entirely unsourced? How does one verify whether or not Perman has been airing only in Singapore from 5 May 2014-present? Unless someone has a plan for how we can verify this data, I think the content should be removed. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:39, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of unsourced content

In these 7 edits I have boldly removed a great deal of content from this article for the following reasons:

  1. There are a total of 3 references in this entire article. There is no presumption of accuracy in any article, without references.
  2. Former programming doesn't meet WP:V. How do you propose to verify that Monster Allergy (as one of many examples) appears on this channel? Where are the references for this content?
  3. Future events must be sourced per WP:CRYSTAL. Statements that such-and-such program will appear in the future must be sourced.
  4. The content about the logo was generic and seems to refer more to the main Disney Channel. I don't see what purpose it has here. Secondly, the inclusion of the logo seems to run afoul of fair use guidelines. We can use the logo on the main Disney Channel article, but not in every Disney Channel subpage or derivative network article. This is indicated in the infobox, which points to this discussion. (Note the conclusion in the upper-right of the box.)
  5. I've also removed the Disney Jr. content because it's unclear why it's here if we have another article on Disney Jr. in Asia. If this is a "Disney Jr. on Disney Channel" programming block or something, I understand that, but why is it noteworthy to include this content? We're essentially talking about Disney Jr. reruns, and I don't think reruns are noteworthy. Also, how do we propose to verify the accuracy of this content that it could meet WP:V?

And that concludes my explanation for the removal of this content. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:53, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I'm starting to suspect that the content being submitted is inauthentic. There are two IPs that typically are involved in these additions, 180.* and 49.*. They geolocate to Indonesia and the Philippines. In these 2 edits the Indonesian IP adds Penguins of Madagascar to the future programming list, claiming it will debut May 4, 2015. This is unsourced and would get deleted anyway per WP:CRYSTAL. The Filipino IP then changes this to Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero, claiming it will debut April 13, 2015. This kind of weird editing, coupled with the rest of the unsourced, edits makes me question the authenticity of the content being added. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:42, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Cyphoidbomb: Welcome to the wonderful world of foreign Disney Channel/Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network articles. I had about 125 of them on my watchlist for a while, valiantly trying to keep up with the constant unsourced additions and vandalism, but I gave up. A vast majority (95% or more) of edits are unsourced, and more than half are vandalism, and frankly I think most of these articles should be deleted per WP:NOTDIRECTORY and redirected to a small handful of articles such as Disney Channels Worldwide. --Ahecht (TALK

@Ahecht: Haha! Thanks for the note, it's warmly welcomed because I was sure I was out here all by myself! :) I've brought this page up at WT:TV a few times but it's sometimes difficult to get my brethren to act; we're all so busy. Somewhat of a significant issue is that there are no clear notability guidelines for television. Maybe the way to go is to delete/redirect. It's a headache otherwise. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:02, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've boldly deleted the programming grid bullshit under WP:NOTTVGUIDE. None of it is sourced anyway, likely doesn't meet WP:V and is an attractive nuisance. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:05, 8 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

"Friendtastic Fridays" or "TGIF"?

Disney Channel (Asia)Disney Channel (Southeast Asia) – This regional variant of the channel is only focused on broadcasting in countries belonging to that region. India, South Korea and Japan have their own localised channels, so naming this article for the whole region would be inaccurate. Bankster1 (talk) 22:11, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
