New Town Road is a link road that connects Elizabeth Street to the Main Road within the greater area of Hobart, Tasmania. This road has seen less usage since the construction of the Brooker Highway which allows traffic to move directly to the main road and onto the northern area of the state. New Town Road, originally established to improve local connectivity within the Hobart area, has historically served as a vital artery for commuters and residents alike. However, with the advent of the Brooker Highway, a modern expressway offering a more direct route to northern Tasmania, the traffic volume on New Town Road has gradually diminished. Despite its reduced usage in recent years, New Town Road retains its significance as a key component of the region's transportation infrastructure and a testament to the evolution of road networks in Tasmania.
