The Ministry of the Interior and Security (French: ministère de l'Intérieur et Sécurité la République démocratique du Congo) is a branch of the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo entrusted with upholding internal security, law enforcement, and administrative affairs within the country.[1][2][3]
The Direction Générale de Migration (DGM "Direction General of Migration"), a department of the Ministry of the Interior and Security, has its main office located in Gombe, Kinshasa.[4]

Coordinating government relations and political parties
[edit]The Ministry of the Interior and Security assumes the crucial role of fostering collaboration between members of the central government and provincial governors.[5] This coordination ensures effective governance and a cohesive national vision. Furthermore, the ministry oversees the organization, operation, and approval of political parties and groups.[5]
Population management and surveillance
[edit]The ministry monitors population movements and provides a safe haven for refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).[5]
Election preparation and disaster management
[edit]The Ministry of the Interior and Security closely collaborates with the Independent National Electoral Commission to plan and execute elections.[5] Additionally, the ministry plays a central role in coordinating the response to natural disasters, working in conjunction with relevant ministries to minimize the impact of such events.[5]
Ensuring public order and security
[edit]The ministry is responsible for maintaining public order and security, protecting individuals and their property. They oversee national security policies and formulate and execute strategies to safeguard the nation's interests.[5]
Law enforcement and counter-terrorism
[edit]The Ministry of the Interior and Security exercises hierarchical power over the National Police and security services. In tandem, it implements a comprehensive counter-terrorism policy to combat threats to national security.[5]
Border surveillance and beyond
[edit]The ministry is accountable for activities that extend beyond domestic frontiers, encompassing border surveillance and the regulation of non-citizens within the Democratic Republic of the Congo.[5] This approach guarantees the security of the nation's boundaries are secure and immigration policies are administered judiciously.[5]
