DJ Dbreathe is an electronic music producer and DJ from London, England and one of the original Ibiza based Superstar DJ's and underground music legends of the 1990's. His recent solo work consists of (Experimental) Electronica, Big Beat, Acid House and Techno..[1][2] He is a member of electro experimental group Haftig, as well as Club Gangland and Electrobica. After a time as Head of A&R, he was appointed CEO of UMG imprint Headspace Records based in Hilversum, Netherlands in 2023

History

Dbreathe has been an active and prolific performer, DJ and producer since the 1990's.[3] His music career began as a DJ at the illegal and DIY rave scene, in particular in Northern England[4] and Nottingham in the Second Summer of Love. A regular at The Haçienda, Manchester, Uk[5] and this further lead to his part in the Big Beat Scene with Bomb The Bass , Chemical Brothers, Fat Boy Slim and The Prodigy. Later in the decade became a contemporary on the avante-garde scene with the likes of justin robertson and andrew weatherall around the Manchester scene.

His first residencies saw him play under varying alias such as Punk Outsider, DJ D-Boy and many more before primarily becoming known as DJ Dbreathe or simply Dbreathe(The name under which he releases work). Successful residencies primarily in Ibiza and also in Marbella, Spain saw him extend to performances at legendary scenes such as The Haçienda[6], Amnesia (nightclub), Cream (nightclub), Ministry of Sound, Pacha Ibiza Pacha Group to name a few. A legendary performer on the Underground Club and Superclub scene and internationally such as in Ibiza, Marbella, Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Croatia, Dubai and all across the USA.

Rumours persist he was the Secret DJ Book [7] author something which Dbreathe denies.

Electronic music performer Dbreathe is a native of the UK of Irish heritage. Dbreathe is a techno specialist whose music is distinguished by its pulsing basslines, complex soundscapes, and driving rhythms. Dbreathe has established himself as a dominant force in the electronic music field over the course of a career spanning more than twenty years.[8]

Dbreathe is renowned for his avant-garde approach to music production, and his music is influenced by a variety of musical genres and has a futuristic yet classic tone. Dbreathe's music ranges from the gloomy and somber to the upbeat and joyful, taking the listener on a sonic voyage into the unknown and the depths of the human psyche.

Dbreathe was originally signed to Universal Music and releasing extensively upto 2005 when he founded Sedition Records before selling out to the GMG Group. He has also released on various labels including U-NXT, Boomtown Records, UMG, Sedition Records and most recently out of Hilversum Netherlands on Headspace Records.

Radio Show

He has presented and produced multiple successful radio shows across the world starting originally on Ibiza Global Radio before eventually launching and producing the award winning Dbreathe Friday Sessions Show on Global Radio Worldwide to 6 million weekly ravers across the globe. [9] He has an estimated fee of over €12 million, making him one of the highest paid Radio Presenters globally.

Dbreathe has released multiple top selling albums, E.Ps and singles along with many remixes. Number 1 selling releases across the world continue in 2023 when his album Disorder hit Number 1 in the UK[10].

He is best known for his tracks Blah Blah - 420 Mix, Shall We Take a Trip - Inner City Mix, Suburban Rebel, It's Grim Up North, and Punk Outsider - Terrace Remix. These songs combine powerful beats, complex rhythms, and captivating melodies that have contributed to making Dbreathe a well-known name in the electronic music community.

Dbreathe's enormous discography has something for everyone. He has been and will continue to be a big figure in the world of electronic music thanks to his distinctive style and creative approach to music production.

Collaborations

In addition to his solo releases, Dbreathe has worked with multiple artists and performers and continues with new and experimental projects such as Hassella, Day Trader, Haftig, Club Gangland and Electrobica

Dbreathe and Bomb the Bass, a Tim Simenon electronic music act, worked together to remix "Drop Acid Not Bombs."[12] The song epitomizes acid house and marks a pivotal point in the development of electronic music. Bomb the Bass's masterful producing abilities and Dbreathe's distinctive sound came together to create a track that is still relevant today. The songs gained a new depth thanks to the remixes, which also make them more dancefloor-friendly. These kinds of collaborations are crucial to the electronic music scene and landscape.

Dbreathe was a founder and Creative Director of Irish based global design studio IND. and part of the Grey Organisation. An experimental graphic designer, web designer and coder in the film, music, television and fashion industry.

Personal Life

Dbreathe grew up in England and is of Irish descent. He currently lives between houses in Chelsea London, Bahamas and County Cavan Ireland. He has been married to Kerrie Walsh an Irish Television Presenter since 2007. He has been a vegan and keen supporter of animal rights for many years. He is known to be a lifelong Arsenal Football Club supporter.

Keeping under the radar except to those ravers in the know and global DJ's, producers and major artists he has worked with. Despite this through his solo work, collaborations, production work, sale of his record label and residencies in Ibiza have enabled him to amass a personal net worth of €48 million.[13]

Dbreathe is known to have been close to the London scene of Pete Doherty and The Libertines and sports a libertines tattoo on his upper arm.
