Alanis Sophia Sanchez (born 11 July 2001), known as Alanis Sophia, is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter, who began her music career as a solo artist in 2012.

Early Life

Named after Alanis Morissette, from an early age, Alanis Sophia showed a large interest and a talent in music and performing. At age eleven, she auditioned in Season 1 of Telemundo’s La Voz Kids and placed runner-up in 2013.[1]

Shortly after the show, she debuted her single “Dulce Fantasia” in 2014, followed by a series of cover singles. That same year, she became an ambassador for the company Visit Florida for four consecutive years, promoting Florida as the face of the tourism.[2]

At sixteen, she was discovered by Grammy award winning producer Julian Raymond and Big Machine Label Group CEO, Scott Borchetta through a YouTube cover video of Selena Quintanilla’s ‘Bidi Bidi Bom’. She was signed as a recording artist with Big Machine Records, and signed as a songwriter for the music publisher Big Machine Music. Alanis Sophia has written with songwriters such as Grammy award-winning Julian Raymond, Sugarland’s Kristian Bush, Katie Cole, Danielle Brisbois, Jeff Trott, Bobby Tomberlin, and many more. She is a Gibson Guitar and Roland endorsed artist.[3] [4] [5]

Alanis Sophia joined Season 19 of American Idol. She performed in front of Judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry. She also performed with Country Music star Jimmie Allen. She placed Top 16 at nineteen years old.[6] [7] [8]

Alanis Sophia is also an actress. She has been in several commercials such as Clean and Clear and TelCel. She was also cast as a lead actress in Dennis DeYoung’s rendition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, portraying ‘Esmerelda’.[9] [10] [11]
