Aisha Sani Maikudi is a Nigerian professor of international law and the current vice chancellor of the University of Abuja.[1][2] She was appointed as acting vice chancellor following the end of professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah and she will resume office on 30 June 2024.[3]

Early life and education

Aisha was born on 31 January 1983 in Zaria.[2][4] she obtained her Secondary School Certificate from Queens College in Lagos in 1999. She obtained her Bachelor of Law degree in 2004 from the University of Reading and she obtained her Master of Laws degree (LLM) from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2005.[5] In 2015, she obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in International Law from the University of Abuja[6] and became a professor in 2022.[7]

Career

Aisha joined the University of Abuja in September 2008 as a Lecturer II. In 2014, she was appointed as Head of the Department of Faculty of Law in 2014, in 2018, she became the Deputy Dean and also the pioneer Director University of Abuja. In 2024, she was appointed as the Vice Chancellor.[2]

She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Federation of Women Lawyers.[6]
