Though this is demonstrably a feature that exists in a lot of messaging software, I'm not finding any sources discussing it specifically, such that I can't see us being able to write much more than a definition of what it is. Sam Walton (talk) 00:15, 28 June 2015 (UTC)

- Keep. There are loads of sources that discuss this topic, even though they may be discussing it in the context of certain programs, such as here with Second Life. APerson (talk!) 03:55, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Merge to Instant messaging. Although there are discussions of specific chat logs, and chat log features in specific software, there's not much that discusses chat logs in general. To write an encyclopedic article, you need general sources that provide simple background information and basic definitions. Colapeninsula (talk) 13:24, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
- Keep The concept of chat logs is not restricted to instant messaging.
