Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Liza Zimmerman. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the COI guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. —usernamekiran(talk) 18:32, 3 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Following on to this, please carefully read and follow our policy on disclosing paid contributions. In particular, you should add a {{connected contributor (paid)}} template at the top of the Duckhorn talk page, you must also provide links on your Wikipedia user page to all active accounts at websites where they advertise paid Wikipedia-editing services. Thanks, Railfan23 (talk) 23:52, 12 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Duckhorn wineries

Hi Liza, could I ask you to take another look at this edit of yours which once again makes the claim that Duckhorn has eight wineries. I do not believe this is true, and it certainly isn't what the source for that text says. As far as I can tell it is accurate to say that Decoy and Magnitude are not wineries, they are second labels of Duckhorn. That is definitely what the source says. Unless you have a superseding independent source that Decoy and Magnitude are wineries, please revert back to the accurate and sourced version. Thank you, Railfan23 (talk) 19:35, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Could you respond to this, please? It would be much better if you took the incorrect information out of the article - or gave a reliable, independent source that shows that there are indeed Decoy and Magnitude wineries. Otherwise I'll take it out, since it directly contradicts the current source in the article (and reality, as far as I can tell). Thanks, Railfan23 (talk) 21:36, 16 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of California Wine Advisors

Hello Liza Zimmerman,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged California Wine Advisors for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

User:Liza Zimmerman, you still have not complied with Wikipedia's rules about paid editing. Please read and follow WP:COI. You are required to "maintain a clearly visible list on your user page of your paid contribution" which you have not done. You also "must declare who is paying you, who the client is, and any other relevant role or relationship" which you have not done, and it is recommended that you place a filled out {{connected contributor (paid)}} one the talk page of any articles you edit. It is part of the terms of use of Wikipedia that you follow these rules, and it is disappointing that you have not done so, despite repeated requests here. Further details can be found at Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. Thank you, Railfan23 (talk) 22:47, 24 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Liza Zimmerman: Please address this issue before you edit further. This is not optional. If you continue to edit articles without disclosing that you are being paid for your work, I will report you to the administrators. It baffles me that weeks after you were asked to do this you have taken no action at all to meet this requirement. Railfan23 (talk) 00:09, 25 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on California Wine Advisors requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Edits by Liza Zimmerman

I am a wine writer being paid by Duckhorn to fix their web pages. These changes are relative to these edits:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Duckhorn_Vineyards&diff=909053452&oldid=908910880 I have been correcting these errors as the current listing does not list the other founder: Margaret Duckhorn. Nor does it list the company's current brands, feature updated pictures and other relative information.

Please see all the changes I have requested here, back up by journalist confirmation:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Duckhorn_Vineyards&oldid=908910880

Please advise when I can make these permanent changes. Thanks. Liza Zimmerman (talk) 22:57, 18 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Picture of the Duckhorn Winery.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:02, 25 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Editing the article directly

Hi

Please do not directly edit the article. If a suggestion on the talk page, Talk:Duckhorn Vineyards, is considered to be acceptable, it will be implemented by an experienced editor. As you have correctly done, the {{request edit}} template makes it easy to attract attention to a suggestion, so that someone quickly answers the request. Never will there be a need to directly edit the article, especially not after a request has been denied.

Thank you very much for your time and understanding. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 07:25, 28 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Posting other people's private correspondence

Hi! Would you please, once and for all, stop posting private correspondence from other people in Wikipedia? I've no idea in what world that might be considered acceptable behaviour, but it surely is not acceptable here. Please take this as a final warning. Edit request declined repeatedly

Hi Liza Zimmerman, the talk page at Talk:Duckhorn_Vineyards has reached considerable size. Please take a while to read the whole content of the talk page, including your requests, and the community's answers to them. My personal recommendation after all these edit requests would be accepting the article in its current state without making any further similar requests. This recommendation is mainly based on the community's detailledly explained, policy-based reaction to the requests, not on the content of the edits itself. That said, I do agree with the community regarding the content as well, and I may have left the neutral position to voice similar points if there hadn't been enough editors to explain them already.

The existence of the conflict of interest guideline and the paid-contribution disclosure policy are, as you may have expected, the result of many years of problematic edits made by people with a conflict of interest, including – yes, really – Wikipedia's founder Jimmy Wales himself. It would be surprising for me to see that your conflict of interest is entirely unproblematic, and I see no indication of such a surprise.

My request – and I would say "my kind request", but then again, perhaps such a request inherently isn't kind, for which I apologize – is, please, to avoid making any further edits regarding Duckhorn Vineyards, and likely Kosta Browne, including edits to the talk pages of these articles, unless you are requesting (or very, very, very carefully implementing) the removal of factually incorrect information. Anything else, I am afraid, would be disruptive. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:25, 10 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
