Other info/views
Do you think we should include other information such as those that criticize the World Cup? For example, people recognize how big the event it, but it has turned everything in between it into "friendlies", and everything now is "in preparation for the next world cup". People have also become upset at what has happened to some competitions, in particular, next years Super 14. Also, some people say that it has devalued the 3N, etc etc...I know that there are policies on original research/point-of-view neutrality, but is this type of thing significant/relevent enough to be included somewhere??
Webb Ellis trophy
I originally posted this at William Webb Ellis Cup, but I guess it would be just a relevent here. Anyone, both this article and the sub-trophy article say that "International Rugby Board" is engraved on the trophy. But I dont see how this can be, as the trophy came about in the 80s, and there was no "International Rugby Board", but instead, the "International Rugby FOOTBALL Board", with the name change apparently coming about in the late 90s...so whats the deal with the engravings??
The trophy is currently kept in the Museum of Rugby, London.
I thought that the real trophy was on tour in france? And I was under the impression that the real cup is kept at the IRB hq?

Rugby World Cup
In appearances in the last 8 you have NEw Zealand as 10 but they appear to have only 9 2A02:C7C:4869:2900:E4E6:79D1:9EB2:27F2 (talk) 15:11, 27 October 2023 (UTC)

Please correct the second paragraph to indicate that South Africa, and not New Zealand, are the current champions having defeated the All Blacks in 2023. 165.73.25.7 (talk) 06:27, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- This is already fixed. RudolfRed (talk) 18:47, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
All Blacks stated as 2023 World Cup champions
I noticed that the article's introduction states that the All Blacks are the current Rugby World Cup champions. However, this is incorrect as South Africa beat the All Blacks in the final. Joshuasmaug (talk) 07:19, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
New naming convention
Starting in 2025, All Rugby World Cups will now include Women’s and Men’s, in the title. This page should be moved to Men's Rugby World Cup to represent this, Women's Rugby World Cup is already titled as such. The 2025, 2027, 2029, 2031 & 2033 pages should all also include either Men's or Women's in their titles.[1] LouisOrr27 (talk) 22:26, 29 October 2023 (UTC)
- Furthermore, it appears that World Rugby are now using "Rugby World Cup" to describe the collective of both men's and women's tournaments.[2] LouisOrr27 (talk) 22:35, 29 October 2023 (UTC)

Rugby World Cup → Men's Rugby World Cup – Per a release on 29 October 2023, World Rugby "... updated its host naming convention to now include Women’s and Men’s. ...to promote unity across the tournament and provide clarity and consistency for fans." - [3] LouisOrr27 (talk) 12:16, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:36, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose as the argument used seems to be WP:OFFICIALNAMES, which states official names aren't to be used in most cases, just because it is official. WP:COMMONNAME should apply and likely supports the current title due to how recent the announcement. No extensive evidence provided to back up WP:NAMECHANGES to prove a change in common name. - Oppose as per WP:COMMONNAME. Even when they dropped Women's as part of the official title for the women's edition, the media still refer to it as that. Same as they still refer to the RWC as such. I see a simple case of WP:AINT here. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 16:56, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME "Rugby World Cup" is common parlance, not "Men's Rugby World Cup" --Boardwalk.Koi (talk) 17:13, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. Rreagan007 (talk) 21:19, 31 October 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose Per others WP:COMMONNAME. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 19:40, 1 November 2023 (UTC)
- Note: I have noticed the OP has already made the proposed move at 2027 Rugby World Cup and 2031 Rugby World Cup in advance, I have reverted and referred the discussion back to here for consistency and because the three are interlinked. The C of E God Save the King! (talk) 07:45, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose for now. The trophy is still commonly called the Rugby World Cup. We shall see if the general media make "Men's Rugby World Cup" a common name in future but for now it is not.Skeene88 (talk) 10:18, 3 November 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose - Although the source provided says the men's tournament will be renamed to include "Men's", it doesn't say what that new name will be. We should wait to see what it will be and then further wait to see if it actually gets adopted. – PeeJay 12:13, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
- Update: I did find this on the Rugby World Cup site, but the name "Men's Rugby World Cup" is certainly not in widespread use yet. – PeeJay 12:14, 6 November 2023 (UTC)
