If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an admin to approve of your new article or your proposed page move, you are in the wrong place.

the - If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Uncontroversial technical requests
- Aramaic of Hatra (currently a redirect to Hatran Aramaic) → Hatran Aramaic (move · discuss) – Common name. See also discussion at Talk:Aramaic of Hatra. DA1 (talk) 13:38, 21 May 2021 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
- Sam Day (rugby player) (currently a redirect to Sam Day (rugby league)) → Sam Day (rugby league) (move · discuss) – moved away from the MOS naming convention for rugby league footballers Fleets (talk) 16:21, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Fleets: Could you point to the MOS you refer to? WP:NCSP#Rugby suggests that (rugby player) is acceptable, and seems to make sense grammatically per the original move summary. The naming convention seems to suggest that even (rugby) alone would be acceptable since there is no other rugby-related topic at Sam Day. -2pou (talk) 18:18, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- Sam Day plays rugby league; rugby is rugby union, rugby footballer is rugby union, rugby player is rugby union.Fleets (talk) 19:30, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- Kanton Island (currently a redirect to Canton Island) → Canton Island (move · discuss) – English and common name of this island of the Pacific Arorae (talk) 06:05, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- Can you cite some sources? A glance at the references shows that "Canton" has been replaced by "Kanton" in most recent publications, including Encyclopaedia Britannica. 162 etc. (talk) 14:26, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- The Constitution of Kiribati (written only in English, 1979 but revised in 2018) writes both spellings, Canton or Kanton, like all recent articles in the press (as this one Asia Times.--Arorae (talk) 21:14, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
- Both of these sources use Kanton first, then mention Canton as an alternate spelling - much like the Wikipedia article currently does. 162 etc. (talk) 22:03, 20 May 2021 (UTC)
