Separation of territories

As currently formatted, the titling of a separate section for non-state AG's looks visually disruptive and also implies that they are less than state AG's when, in fact they have exactly the same powers and duties. As previously formatted, they appeared immediately after the state AG's without a separate title to single them out beyond not appearing alphabetically intermingled with the state AG's. I would suggest that we should go back to the previous, long-standing format. Discussion? Pr4ever (talk) 03:09, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Reverted party affiliations

I reverted the edit that put in the party affiliations. I thought I left an explanation, but it's not there, so it's here.

A navbox is primarily a navigation tool, not an information tool, and as such should not be cluttered with extraneous data. Therefore, only in lists where readers more or less expect to see the party labels should they be included. Thus, Template:Current U.S. Senators and Template:Current U.S. Governors have the labels—readers think in terms of red states vs. blue states—while historical templates like Template:United States Senators from Minnesota and Template:Governors of New Hampshire do not have the labels—readers do not think in terms of red years vs. blue years. And since the party affiliations of state Attorneys General are usually underemphasized, they don't belong here. Choor monster (talk) 19:25, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Requested move 20 March 2021

Template:U.S. State attorneys general → Template:U.S. state attorneys general – I was trying to revert an undiscussed move that introduced a grammatical error into the page title ("attorney generals" instead of "attorneys general"), but I forgot to change the capitalization from "State" to "state", where the move also changed that very capitalization. JJP...MASTER!_{[talk to] JJP... master?} 19:17, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

• Comment since more than one state is listed, that should be pluralized, it isn't the state attorney generals of one state (ie. chronological), it is the state attorney generals for multiple states. So Template:U.S. states attorneys general -- there are multiple attorney generals and multiple states. -- 65.93.183.33 (talk) 20:14, 20 March 2021 (UTC)
  • ...doesn't the U.S. only have one AG at a time and multiple state AGs (where "state" simply modifies "AG")? Much like how one could have multiple bird feathers or multiple birds' feathers, but not multiple birds feathers. Though...is the plural "attorneys general"?     • There is only one current state AG at a time, but there are many AGs for a state over time (ie. chronological) ; just as there is one current president but there are many presidents overall. -- 65.93.183.33 (talk) 22:33, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

• Comment yes, per JJPMaster this needs to decapitalize "state". My personal opinion is that "state" should be pluralized as "states", because it concerns more than one state. A template navigating various people who were a particular state's AGs over time would use the singular "state" while a template navigating between multiple states should uses "states". -- 65.93.183.33 (talk) 00:38, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
