Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    XfD templates

    Indefinite template protection: Used in XfDs, high-risk. –User456541 23:16, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – This template is not used widely enough to be considered a high-risk template. Given that they are subst'd there isn't that much of a risk either. The vandalism would be pretty obvious, pretty quickly. I'm entirely not averse to another admin protecting them. Woody (talk) 19:31, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: (...)
I would like to request the template to be semi-protected due to the vandalism (caused by listing of hoax shows that are not even aired on 5). Thank you. David Isaac C. M. (talk) 02:28, 21 July 2020 (UTC).[reply]

(moved from my talk page) Hi David Isaac C. M., I have moved your request to this central request noticeboard and will have a look soon, if noone else is quicker. 🙂 ~ ToBeFree (talk) 07:57, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Woody (talk) 19:34, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. KidAd (💬💬) 02:49, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Likely collateral damage as one or several users who are making improvements would be affected by the requested protection. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:17, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: IP vandalism. Cognissonance (talk) 03:34, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary pending changes: Persistent vandalism by IP addresses and registered users alike. Would like to try pending changes protection before requesting temporary semi-protection. Liamyangll (talk) 04:06, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Likely collateral damage as one or several users who are making improvements would be affected by the requested protection. Surprisingly, not that heavily edited. Disruption is there, but not enough to warrant any protecion at the moment. I have watchlisted. Lectonar (talk) 11:38, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Please protect this page to avoid more disruptive editing and content deletion as recently done by Deoxy99. A deletion discussion is always expected before acting on it. Civilguy1997 (talk) 04:21, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Please discuss the content under dispute on the article talk page. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:04, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 04:47, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent vandalism – This is highly visible and may subject to large amounts of vandalism or sockpuppet editing. ThesenatorO5-2argue with me 06:01, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Lectonar (talk) 11:31, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – No changes to the current protection level are required at this point in time. Lectonar (talk) 11:30, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Full protection: Deceased Wikipedian. –User456541 12:38, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Semi-protection: Disruptive editing, tampering the financials. 2409:4073:2009:8DC1:545F:C075:42AC:1C03 (talk) 12:53, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – And they're back. Jerod Lycett (talk) 15:36, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: The article will be featured on the main page on July 24, 2020, and it will likely be a greater target for vandalism because of this. Aoba47 (talk) 17:42, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined We do not preemptively protect pages that will show up on the main page CaptainEek Edits Ho Cap'n! 17:45, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    Thank you for the response. Aoba47 (talk) 17:58, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – On-going, persistent vandalism by anonymous editors over long-term period of time. livelikemusic (TALK!) 18:04, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Flix11 (talk) 18:17, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP-hopper repeatedly reverting over a years worth of edits. Alivardi (talk) 18:23, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The user asking for page protection is actually engaged in edit warring as he is the one who has made changes to consensus version if the text without reaching new consensus and is adamant in keeping the non-consensus text in the article. He is sort of claiming ownership of the article.----2402:3A80:D33:C16A:0:0:16C:67D2 (talk) 19:09, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. Note I have warned you both. Please stop edit warring. Woody (talk) 19:22, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing from multiple IP addresses. The main IP address has been blocked already: Special:Contributions/114.134.140.31. All talk attempts were ignored. オオカワウソ (talk) 19:01, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Repeated addition of poorly sourced/unsourced information. ≫ Lil-Unique1 -{ Talk }- 19:19, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Unprotected. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:27, 22 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite no protection: It's a talk page on a talk page help page. It doesn't warrant protection at all. I agree that the TP help page itself should be protected due to vandalism, but the talk page on it doesn't need protection. Plus it's a TALK page meant for TALKING and EDIT REQUESTS, why are these even protected? 176.222.226.5 (talk) 10:49, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.
