The church Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, along with Plaza Bolívar, the modern Plaza Francisco de Miranda (inaugurated in 2009) and the different beaches of the town, are one of the most beautiful attractions of this town, which celebrates its patron saint festivities each year from 16 to 22 July, with different religious events and celebrations. It should be noted that, like several coastal towns and cities in Venezuela, Higuerote has a musical tradition, highlighting Afro-Caribbean rhythms, especially the [[Tambor (dance)|Tambor]].

It has the sculpture of its patroness, virgin Virgen of Carmen at the entrance.

Higuerote has several beaches at a very short distance, such as Los Cocos beach and also some more popular beaches, known and attractive a few more kilometers as they are: Chirimena, Puerto Francés, Caracolita, San Francisquito, Chirere, Playa Los Totumos beaches among others, so it have several inns and hotels.
