Soane Patita Paini Mafi (born 19 December 1961) is the current Roman Catholic Bishop of Tonga.[1]
On 4 January 2015 it was announced that Mafi, along with 14 others, would to be elevated to the rank of Cardinal. He will be formally inducted into the College of Cardinals on 14 February 2015.[2]
Mafi participated in Third Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization held on October 5–19, 2014. Mafi has been president of the Episcopal Conference of the Pacific since 2010.[3]
