The following are the seeded players. Rankings are as of August 9, 2021. Points before are as of August 16, 2021. Players will drop either their 2019 points or 2020 points, whichever is greater. Players will count either their 2021 points or 50% of their 2020 points, whichever is greater. In addition, because there are no mandatory tournaments in 2021, players may count their next best result instead if that result is better.<ref>{{cite web|url=https://www.atptour.com/en/news/fedex-atp-rankings-adjustments-faq|title= FedEx ATP Rankings COVID-19 Adjustments FAQ|website=ATP|date=3 March 2021|access-date=30 May 2021}}</ref> |

The 2021 Western & Southern Open is a scheduled men's and women's tennis tournament to be played on outdoor hard courts from August 16–22, 2021, as part of the US Open Series. It is a Masters 1000 tournament on the 2021 ATP Tour and a WTA 1000 tournament on the 2021 WTA Tour.[1][2]
The 2021 tournament will be the 120th men's edition and the 93rd women's edition of the Cincinnati Masters and will take place at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, a northern suburb of Cincinnati, in the United States, making its return to Ohio for the first time since the 2019 tournament after being held in New York City, New York for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. It is expected to operate a full spectator capacity as participants are required to have tested negative for COVID-19 or to be fully vaccinated.[3]
